Description Round 4 of - "Hello Sailor" aka the pinup round (aka "I've been messaging you for 10 minutes where are you/DRAWING BUTTS, MY DUDE"; aka "i hate myself")

RIGHT O

On to the questions, as answered by Gabby (aka Sailor Takhisis, aka Actual Human Disaster):

What is it that you fight for? Is it duty, obligation, for yourself, ect?

Well... um... Goodness, that's a loaded question. I mean, I don't think I really set out to fight at all? That's kind of not my thing? But I guess it's what I do now? Like, this is a thing. A superhero thing. And if I don't, who else is gonna do it? Ceci? Merllun? Merllun can't even operate a calculator without accusing it of sorcery! Or gnomish something... Anyway, his idea of solving a problem is throwing a sword at it. I actually have super powers - now, I mean - I didn't before. But, you get what I'm saying. [pauses] Also, it seems like keeping this power safe from my evil past incarnation is my destiny or something, so I guess that's a thing I'm fighting for. [silently mouths how is this my life while looking up to the ceiling in exasperation]

What was your "turning point?" What caused you to accept your destiny and why? Or maybe you still haven't?

Oh, that's easy. The portal. Where everything just went and... [makes a face, drops her head into her hands and groans] I should have known. The ghost wizard, the funky LARPer armor - yeah, I should have seen it coming. Instead, I found out the hard way, via portal - [pauses again] Oh my god, I just realized Merllun's not from Earth. He's an alien. I was abducted by an alien and I'm the reincarnation of an alien goddess. When did I start living in an anime?

I'm living in an anime. Help me, Obi Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope. [pauses, looks off stage] No, I take that back. The last thing I need is to make it worse. It's already bad enough I have dead wizards hanging around! I don't need Force ghosts, too!

If you could give up your powers to be anyone or anything you want, would you? If so, what would you be instead?

Ahhh... [still looking a bit frazzled] Um... normal, I guess? I think I just want to lie down. I mean... ha, lie down! Obviously not, that would be silly, and a terrible answer. Um, no, I think I'd like to be a crime scene person - a CSI. Yes, nice, normal, solving crime. Love solving crime. Evidence, facts, no magic. [glares at something off to the side of the stage] No ghosts. Noooo, nice, normal police science-y things. Things that have absolutely no magic or superheroing involved whatsoever.

What is the most challenging part about being a Senshi/Guardian?

Adjusting? There's - there's no time. Like, I don't know how Sailor Moon does it! I mean, I've got school and homework and friends and basketball - and then, this. And evil apparently doesn't have any consideration that you have a life, like, outside of superheroing. Like when am I supposed to sleep? I don't like falling asleep in my pizza, ok?

Oh, oh, and do you know what's the worst? When your superpowers hijack your brain during an important game because Destiny seems to think you've been screening its calls! Newsflash, Destiny, I ignored that call for a reason. And I definitely did not appreciate doing Facetime with the floor. That was a bad day.

If you could go back in time, what is the one thing you would change?

I would definitely not agree to go to senior prom with Merllun. That was a mistake. You heard me, Merllun: I am not remotely over it! Or the portal! I am very upset about the portal. I am scarred for life. I will need therapy. Lots of it. [pauses, wincing] Actually, no... that probably wouldn't work out, would it?

----Notes: -----

Gabby is 18 and full of sass, wandering thoughts, and many Moods. xD She's a disaster and garbage and I love her. And yeah, Merllun did actually technically kidnap her. Not that he thinks so, because Destiny and the Mission (dun, dun, DUN), but that is what happened. Also, he is from Krynn - he's an alien. A human alien, but an alien nonetheless. Gabby had actually seen his armor - she just assumed he was a LARPer (not her cup of tea, per se, but there are weirder hobbies in her eyes). She was so wrong - so hilariously wrong. And then there were portals. Poor Gabby.

On that note, because she's 18, I literally went through an entire volume of pinup art trying to find references I could use for poses that didn't have nip slips all over the place. This was a challenge because most classic pinups are nip slips and lingerie exposure all over the place. Finally, however, I found one that had a pose I'd feel okay putting an 18 year old in as long as there were clothes on. Word. So, I got my sketch of the pose done and then my mind must have launched into another plane of existence, because I made this look like a setup for putting on the nose of a B-17 bomber. Can't be helped, I guess. #aesthetic

TBH, I think it's what I was doing with the coloring. I tried a little something different. Not that I'm totally sure it worked out too great or that I'd color like that again (supposedly, it's a method that makes shading easier or whatnot, but I found it very counter-intuitive and annoying and ended up having to bounce back and forth between Sai and PS to get anywhere with it).

The paper for the texture and background is mine - lovely bit of handmade I picked up at Blicks.

Again, Gabby has her dragons with her, this time in a lovely round-style version of the Portal to the Abyss (an artifact literally described as an oval-shaped gate with the five chromatic dragons forming the frame, each head screaming and glowing when the portal opens); I played with the embellishments of the Portal a bit, including abstract renditions of each dragon's breath weapons [Blue, lightning; red, fire; green, chlorine gas; white, ice; black, acid].  Gabby also is wearing a version of one of Takhisis's tiaras and - honestly, I'd say this is a bit mid-transformation, almost, for her costume. Or it should be, lol.

ANYWAY, my cats are insisting that I have snuggles now and I no longer have any say in the matter. They are smol but overlords. And they insist.

This is such a pretty piece! I love how you incorporated her dragons for the background, and the pose looks great!

My favorite part about this, though, is the written portion. You're so good at writing Gabby's character voice! It's really easy to visualize her in my head, hear her voice and whatnot. I may know basically nothing about Takhisis or Krynn or whatever, but you draw me in so much that I want to find out more!

Thank you!

xD Yay, I'm glad. She was a lot more seriously dramatic when I first wrote her in the dark ages of the late 90s, believe it or not - BUT THAT WAS THE 90S. xDDDD

Oh goodness, the actual Dragonlance canon's a mess (there's at least half a dozen novels just to really start off reading), but the game is fun. There were many shenanigans, to the Dungeon Master's lament.

Ah, so it's a tabletop RPG thing. I'm an ickle baby who's only played Pathfinder, so if Dragonlance is, like, DnD stuff I'd know basically nothing.

And I'm definitely glad she's evolved over time. If "seriously dramatic" equals "angsty brooder," and I'm assuming it is, semi-comedic indigence is a thousand times more fun than angst. Defs as a reader, and I'm sure it's the same case for you as a writer.

sigh...I've been wanting to get into some kind of roleplaying group...

It's both a book and a tabletop thing. The books are pretty much the master playthrough of the game, though, xD - especially the original Chronicles Trilogy and Legends Trilogy, so if you read them, you get the general gist of the game's storylines. If you do like sword and sorcery fantasy stuff, it's pretty good. A lot more digestible than Tolkien, lol.

Less angsty brooder and more Everything Is Dramatic (with a side of Jumps To Conclusions A Lot). xD There was a lot of ham and chewing the scenery going on, which was thankfully toned down, and Gabby was a lot more accepting of the situation (I mean, she did casually dread the inevitable, but it was never sort of pushed as hard). She did have more senshi-training support in the past though, which she now doesn't have, and Raistlin didn't stay dead and ghosty - he popped back up in a new body, and with a super OP power boost. Also, there were easily a half dozen additional crossovers involved. xD I just went nope to all of that and was like old fandom shame. xDDD But nah, now Gabby's a bit more on her own and so over it already. It also helps that this time her only support is her unpowered best friend and a real jerkface of a ghost. xD

Ahaha, yes, she is. Destiny (and probably Raistlin) should let her Rest. xD
