it has never been 100% confirmed in canon that caroline was chell's mother, and i personally do not believe that they are related at all. if you think they are, that's totally cool and i respect that, but please dont force your headcanons onto me//

I'll admit I've seen worse pairings, but that is pretty bad.
To be clear - I'm less worried about Alternate Universe pairings of this, but when it comes to the psycho-evil GLaDOS who hates humans and killed them all with Chell who hates robots, is an elective mute because of it and wants to escape...that's the pairing that makes no sense to me.

valve never confirmed anything there.
i personally believe that they are not related because the timelines do not add up at all, and chell does not resemble caroline - they are even a different race (caroline is white, chell is latina/asian mix). also, valve has confirmed that there is deliberate sexual tension between chell and GLaDOS, and compare GLaDOS to a jealous ex-girlfriend.
anyway, my point is that it's really rude to push what you believe about the game onto me to try and stop me from enjoying what i enjoy.
i'm not going to stop shipping/drawing chelldos, and i'm not forcing you to look at it. if you find it wrong, don't look - it's that simple.

and i do recognise that, of course! everybody has ships that they do and don't like, and that's totally cool! what isn't cool is trying to make other people stop shipping something just because you don't like it.
instead of the time spent arguing with me, you could have gone and found some fanart of a pairing you do like, or maybe a picture of mother/daughter chell and caroline or something, and told the artist how much you like their work - it'd probably make their day! you see what i'm getting at here? it's just really unnecessary and a waste of time and frustrating to the both of us.

I apologise for this whole argument - this particular pairing was a source of physical illness for me recently (or rather, deep mental illness that translated into physical) so it has quite a painful reminder to me. Coupled with an extreme amount of stress recently...I haven't been in the best mood, and otherwise I likely would have just ignored this piece if I hadn't been in this current...ill temper.
The thing is, my gripe about the pairing is when people use the canon personalities. If we took it as if the games didn't happen, and as basically an AU pairing with sort of 'modified' personalities for the characters, it's not a problem for me. It's just when people think a psycho killer computer who hates humans would date a human who hates said computer and her elective mute status confirms it.
If it's an AU version, where the games don't apply and it's just the facility and characters, I don't mind.
