Before I say anything else, the images (which include the starry backdrop) come from this site: [link] but note that they are NOT copyrighted and may be distributed freely, blah blah blah... [link] . All I've done is merge two images in such a way as two make it look semi-realistic (obviously the relative brightness of the hemisphere in darkness is ridiculously high, but it really wouldn't be very interesting otherwise!). There is a 1600x1200 version available as well, and note that these pictures are JPEGs at maximum quality (there really is no visible loss). If you're a big mentalist and want a higher resolution or want a version showing the Americas I can do that. Alternatively visit the site above and have your wicked way with whatever you get from there.

I know I've done nothing more than manipulate a few layers here but I certainly think it's a fascinating wallpaper and I wanted to share it with you lot.
