Description This is the first of the 2 adaptations of the "Fiery Dragon" model by Kade Chan. It is a fusion of the Fiery dragon with the "El ultimo dragon" model's head by Fernando Gilgado.

It is made from a piece of thin white paper (im not sure what kind it is) but it can be made from a standard A4 paper. I was pretty bored so i started experimenting with the base of the Fiery Dragon this will be the new model I will do to kill the time.

I think the head looks good compared to the original head though doing the base its a bit complicated. I am not sure how to describe the changes so the only way I will be doing any diagrams would be by photos.

Enjoy

The original Fiery dragon was made by Kade Chan.
This model is another version made by me.

Thanks, the tail is pretty much the same of the original model (it just got 2 spikes more). Maybe someday I will do something more interesting with the tail.

I know, its pretty hard to get origami paper where I live. I normally use any paper I can find in a regular store. Using origami paper would definitively make it look better.

Really cool!
Are you gonna make any diagrams??

Thanks
Probably, I was thinking on doing them by photos since drawings would take a lot of time. The problem is that there are a couple of steps when doing the base that I dont know how to descrive.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

danix200 In reply to twistedndistorted [2012-07-05 21:18:33 +0000 UTC]

Well I guess you could try to describe them the best you can and hope for the best.
I would like to see the steps for this

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

twistedndistorted In reply to danix200 [2012-07-06 17:09:52 +0000 UTC]

Yes that would be the best solution.
You can try the Fiery Dragon (I dont remember where I got the diagrams) the step Im struggling to describe is like a double version of steps 18-20. Apart from that all it is relatively simple.

I love it ! congratulations.
Did you cut the paper along the spine or is it only folds ?

twistedndistorted In reply to Artham [2012-06-29 17:45:21 +0000 UTC]

Thanks
It is like that, without any cuts. However if the paper is too think it will start to break at the base of the tail.

I thought of this when you mentionned A4 paper
I'll have to look for the model diagrams you're mentionning and give it a try...

A standard A4 paper isnt the best paper for origami. Unluckily is the only thing I can get easily in any place when I want to do some origami just for fun.

I dont remember where I got the diagrams but here is a video tutorial [link]

Thanks, Im glad you like it that much

This was the model I was talking about in my last journal. Im actually happy about this one since its the first dragon (that looks good) I could say I have made myself (not really since its made up of parts of another dragons).

The other model I made is a phoenix. I will probably upload it tomorrow. I still need to fix a couple of things in this one but it looks good enough.

Dude I think that all your oragmi is good It's a lost art where I live Except for this one friend of mine from China, she knew a little bit of oragami, and I loved the cranes and boats she would make me

Phoenix! I wish to see!

Ok, any piece of paper should make it (I remember doing a crane with a piece of toilet paper ) What are you doing on a boat?

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Cyndardragon In reply to twistedndistorted [2012-07-01 23:52:22 +0000 UTC]

Really, toilet paper? Well I guess it would make sense since it's soft and flexible

My family has a yacht boat on a lake near where we live. We usually spend weekends up there I just returned back to our house today so now I'm on land

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

twistedndistorted In reply to Cyndardragon [2012-07-02 19:50:36 +0000 UTC]

Its not that good because it doesnt fold that good (but its the only thing one has at the bathroom, lol)

Nice, it would be nice to have a yacht. By the way, do you have internet on your yacht?

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Cyndardragon In reply to twistedndistorted [2012-07-02 23:23:26 +0000 UTC]

LOLOLOL yes, that's true XD

We don't have internet on the boat, but the marina we're at has internet. It's faulty and likes to screw up a lot, but if you can get it to work, then you can surf the web

My parents bought the yacht about five years ago because they love boats and have wanted one forever. Yet they refuse to think that we're wealthy, when we clearly are, and it annoys me We've a big house, a boat on a lake, don't really have to worry about money, how's that not wealthy? In my opinion, I say that we're rich, but they don't I don't understand it.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

twistedndistorted In reply to Cyndardragon [2012-07-03 16:58:53 +0000 UTC]

You could get that satellite internet things or a phone with G3 internet or something similar that acts as a modem so computers can connect to internet through it. When I went to the USA my father had this little apparatus that acted as a internet modem. He put it in the car so I could finish my university application while we traveled, you could put that in your yacht.

Here where I live its a bit harder to have a yacht, harbors are crowded and a bit far. Also we don't go too much to the beach so it isnt worth it (I prefer the mountains). A jet ski would be awesome though.

I dont know, probably they consider they are not wealthy in comparison to others? or maybe they just dont think its important. My mother used to tell me that its not good to think that one have a lot of money since it could make you start wasting money or change your behavior. Maybe your parents are trying to say to you that money is not that important.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Cyndardragon In reply to twistedndistorted [2012-07-03 17:15:20 +0000 UTC]

Now there's a good idea! Except I don't have a phone Oh, speaking of colleges, do you know which one you were accepted to? I'm just curious

Yeah, I love mountains too So pretty!

That's a very good saying that your mother has Unfortunately, I think that my parents view it differently. My mother thinks that you have to have money to be happy and she doesn't like the fact that I'm going into professional arts and book-writing because she doesn't think I'll make any money I keep telling her that I don't care about money, I care about happiness, and she totally disagreed with me. It actually made me a little mad.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

twistedndistorted In reply to Cyndardragon [2012-07-04 02:02:42 +0000 UTC]

There are these satellite internet modems, they are better than the phone. You could try to ask your parent for it (It would make your yacht more interesting ).

I am going to study engineering (probably mechanical engineering) in the University of Toronto.

Well if you get to publish a famous book you could get a lot of money, even publishing it gives some money it doesnt have to be a "Harry Potter" to give a lot of money. The problem is publishing it. I think you can do whatever you want if it makes you happy since its your life. That or you take the career your parents want and complete it, then show them that you are now a professional and then do whatever you want.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Cyndardragon In reply to twistedndistorted [2012-07-04 04:01:00 +0000 UTC]

Yes, yes it would

Dude, that's amazing! Good luck!

Oh, I wouldn't be able to do what my parents want They want my sisters and I to be pilots I say screw that, I'm gonna be whatever the hell I want I actually get mad whenever a parent tries to steer their child into a certain career and pressure them into it, because what if they don't want it? I'm a huge free-thinker, free-minded kind of person

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

twistedndistorted In reply to Cyndardragon [2012-07-05 01:21:10 +0000 UTC]

Thanks

It would be interesting to be an airplane pilot. Why would they want you and your sisters to be pilots? (do they own an airline?). I agree, parents shouldn't try to push their children into a career since they are different persons and in the end the children will end hating what they are doing. I had a problem when choosing where to study since my dad wanted my to study in the USA while I wanted to study in Canada. It took a while a while to convince him to let me study where I wanted (since he is the one paying my studies) at least he didnt threaten me in not paying my studies if I didnt study where he wanted (though he mentioned that some parents do that).

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Cyndardragon In reply to twistedndistorted [2012-07-05 01:58:29 +0000 UTC]

My dad's a pilot and my mom ALMOST became one, but right now she just really likes them instead. And they want us to be pilots.

If I became a pilot, I would crash So that's why I'm going into art and writing; I love it and I'm good at it already And I think that other kids should follow what THEY want, not what other people want, because if they don't then they may only end up being miserable.

It must be different where you're from School's too expensive to go out-of-country for me for the whole four years, so I have to stay in the state, but I don't mind I plan on spending at least a semester studying in Canada if I can (it'd be in Quรจbec), but even then, I might not be able to I wish that school was free...

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

twistedndistorted In reply to Cyndardragon [2012-07-06 16:40:59 +0000 UTC]

If you are doing what you like its fine. I agree, but its hard to get into university without your parents support (after all normally they are the ones who pay for your education).

It is also very expensive for me to go to study out-of-country, especially since Im going from the other side of the world. The tuition of the university Im going to study is like 3 times more for international students than for local students. I also wish school was free, it would be really nice.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Cyndardragon In reply to twistedndistorted [2012-07-06 17:14:29 +0000 UTC]

It would just be so wonderful if education was free

Yikes man, that's a lot of money! But I'm sure it'll be worth it

My tuition will be about 14,000 dollars a year but it's because I'm commuting instead of staying on campus. If I were living at the college, then it'd be about 23,000 a year (in American dollars, I'm not sure how much it would be in your currency ). For most people that's practically unaffordable, so then they must take loans. They finish college but end up being 60,000 dollars in debt or more, which they can't pay off until they're forty years of age (usually).

It just sucks Thankfully I won't have that problem, or I shouldn't, anyways

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

twistedndistorted In reply to Cyndardragon [2012-07-07 23:23:55 +0000 UTC]

Dont worry, we also use American dollars here. Is kind around 1$ to 2.65 nuevos soles (or new suns, there used to be a coin called the inty which is sun in Quechua and then sol that is sun in Spanish. Now it is new sun).

My tuition and living expenses would be around 40k dollars a year but for Canadians it would be around 20k. I wish I could get an scholarship, maybe if I get very good grades in the first year but it will be very hard. I think that if the debt takes like 20 years too pay then its not so worth it since it means the university didnt get you a good job, I dont know, its my opinion (since its more time than it takes to normally buy a house and is literally a quarter of your life).

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Cyndardragon In reply to twistedndistorted [2012-07-08 19:49:51 +0000 UTC]

Really? Awesome Somehow it reminds me of when I asked a bunch of Americans if they took Canadian money (I was on the border in Vermont, right beneath Canada) and they said no, even though Canada takes American dollars...I probably seemed like an odd American once I came back

HOLY CRABS DUDE Well you're really smart so I'm sure that you'll be able to get a scholarship I don't know if the college you go to does this, but my older sister's college has something called a "fellowship," and she got accepted. She doesn't have to pay tuition anymore, but she has to work about 15 hours for them a week. It's a really good deal Maybe you could get something like that...?

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

twistedndistorted In reply to Cyndardragon [2012-07-10 01:09:02 +0000 UTC]

Most countries accept American dollars but the USA doesnt accept other currencies.

I hope I can get it. I am planning to work in the university so I can cover my personal expenses. Im not sure if they have that "fellowship" thing though it would be great if they had that.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Cyndardragon In reply to twistedndistorted [2012-07-10 01:25:19 +0000 UTC]

I have no idea why the USA won't accept anything but American dollars. Maybe they're just too lazy to get off their fat butts to exchange money

Wow that was harsh what I just said But it's true: 68% of Americans are overweight/obese, I'm glad to say I'm NOT one of them, and not everybody I know/see is overweight, but still

Anyway, yeah, I heard that if you work at the college you attend then you won't have to pay full tuition. I don't know if that's true where you're going to, but it's worth a try

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

twistedndistorted In reply to Cyndardragon [2012-07-10 04:56:14 +0000 UTC]

Im not sure if USA is the country with most obesity anymore. I think I heard in some documentary that another country is now the country with more obesity. When I went to the USA I didnt see a lot of obese people but I saw a lot of XL and XXL sized clothes a lot more than M and L combined together.

Yes, I will try. Even if it doesnt work like that it is worth the money they could pay me.

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Cyndardragon In reply to twistedndistorted [2012-07-10 20:20:28 +0000 UTC]

Oh really? I wonder which country it is...

I guess it kind of depends on where you are in the country. If you're in Colorado, which is the least overweight state, there are tons of outdoors sports like skiing and snowboarding, hiking, kayaking, etc. that many people participate in. On the other hand, the south of U.S. tends to have a higher percentage of overweight people. Mississippi is the most overweight

OMG sorry if I'm boring you, it's just that people get offended often if I talk about this in public, it's kind of nice when I can share my opinions with someone Sorry

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

twistedndistorted In reply to Cyndardragon [2012-07-12 18:27:45 +0000 UTC]

Im not sure, really but apparently (according to the internet) USA is still the one with the most obese people. Probably I got confused. It probably depends on what activities you can do and what you it. I suppose that in the city you wouldn't do too much sports and would eat junk food.

Its ok, you are not bothering me. I know its a bit hard to talk about these things, I also like to share my opinion. I can only talk about university and that kind of things with my school friends, most people where in my country go into local universities (some dont go into university or school at all) so its kind of hard to explain how universities in the USA or Canada work (normally taking lots of time ) also I feel a bit uncomfortable talking about tuition or money matters since here most universities are less than 3-5k$ the year (best ones are around 8-10k$ at most.)

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Cyndardragon In reply to twistedndistorted [2012-07-12 21:05:07 +0000 UTC]

Obese and overweight are pretty similar, I can understand where confusion comes from Although on the contrary, I heard the a lot of people in the city tend to like to play a lot of basketball and various other sports and if they don't have a car, then they walk often or take public transportation. But then again, people in the suburbs/rural areas (like me) can go outside into the woods and hike, run, bike, walk, etc. Perhaps it just depends on what the individual person is like

Oh good, we understand each other Your school are a lot cheaper than the ones I know though, lucky

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

twistedndistorted In reply to Cyndardragon [2012-07-14 01:44:10 +0000 UTC]

I think that first is obese and then overweight in the fat scale. I agree, I think it depends on the person and what they eat.

Yes unfortunately they are not that good compared to the ones you can found in the northern hemisphere.
