Man, I need some help naming my drawings.I think I've made some huge leaps in terms of coloring and process in this piece. It's too bad that I'm so unhappy with the lineart in general. Isn't that just the way it is though, if it's not one thing, it's the other?

Yes, I used this photo as a reference for my drawing. For most of my drawings I use a reference in order to get the dimensions correct.

I like you're idea of just giving them names; I often come up with a name for them just from the personality of the character.

The light, muted colors you chose have a dreamy, peaceful feel. It's a color scheme I've seen used quite a bit, but I can't think of anything specific.
