I think you really don't have enough strong highlights in this peice. It seems like there is too much gray mass, and nothing to level it out. The shadow also makes the dog seems like she's on a tilted plain. It's prolly cause theere is no strong shadow under the tail. The head seems either too small or is facing at a bad angle. Either way, you definately need some value on the neck and right under her jaw. And also... the background is cool
