By the way, I just realized, you said texture ^^" that's not a 3D object, it's fully painted in CS3

Well I have heard that gold is not a "strong" material (Im not sure), but may be if is mixed with other or used to cover other material can be stronger 
But It looks good!
And the rubies looks good with the shine, but they have irregular shapes, I dont know how are the normal rubies, but in the movies I have see them with geometrical shapes

It's geometrical if you cut them to be so. It really depends on the jeweller.
