Description
The Azure Wheel Galaxy is a vast place full of wonders and beauty. I feel blessed to have been able to travel throughout it during my time as a wildlife researcher. I am also thankful to the Black Seraph Cartography Company who was gracious enough to sponsor my work in their weekly publications. With their funding I am able to present you, the reader with a small slice of my research every week.

Artist's Notes:
This is my entry in the the first week of CLAWS, a research group for fantastical creatures. I mostly see the group as an excuse to build up the beastiary in my (already massive) headworld and I am doing so through the eyes of Jae, a wildlife researcher that lives in said headworld.
The theme for this week is an avian from an ocean biome with claws, horns and magic. Well, I had to fudge the magic a little bit since high fantasy style magic doesn't exist in my fictional universe but I think I figured a way around it.
The base creature used was blue and gold macaw with some gannet anatomy and mannerisms thrown in for good measure. Much of the flora and fauna of my universe evolved from earth creatures.
Not Shown on the Sheet:
- Unlike their parrot ancestors, the albattaadi does not nest in hollow tree cavities. Instead, it builds its nest on cliffsides or on flat, sandy soil much like a gannet or other seabird. Eggs take 21 days to hatch and are cared for by both parents.
- Most albattadi live on protected islands since illegal poaching and capture for pet trade almost drove the species to extinction.
- Any albattaadi that live in captivity were bred in captivity since it is now illegal to capture them for pet trade. This does not stop black market traders, though.
All of my "research" for this group is being done through the eyes of Lady Jae, so I guess she is considered my "face" for the group.
