Description Have you ever been out on a cold winters day and suddenly an even colder wind blows by? Freezing your nose and cheeks making them a rosy red?

Have you ever been standing under a tree suddenly to have a branch empty a flurry of snow to shower down on you?

Do you ever wonder why?

It's Jack Frost, the sprite who brings icy cold winters and beautiful snowdrifts to cover the landscapes in a blanket of white.

It was a cold wintry afternoon, Jack flew over the fresh blanket of sticky wet snow. He dodged in and out between a group of children making a snowman, the snow falling snow danced around them in his path following the gust of wind, making the children giggle.

Jack smiled hearing the happy laughter of the children. Lately children were the only ones who enjoyed snow and winter. Adults were too busy working, taking care of children and doing other things to truly stop and just enjoy the crisp, clean, cold air of winter. He hated that his work was never appreciated anymore. No one took the time to admire the beauty of Winter. Although he could feel that people were getting more and more distant from him any year. Most people didn't even know who Jack Frost was.

He floated casually along a not-so-busy side street, coming across two women walking. They were bundled up in layer over layer, and still looked cold. "I hate the snow, its cold, wet and causes car accidents, its such a pain to shovel too." Jack simply sighed, not listening to the other's reply besides a 'yeah' he caught as he flew off at high speeds causing the wind to knock a big pile of snow on the two women from the branches of the trees above them.

He flew along a level with the trees, making the snow flutter to the ground. He smiled and paused mid-air to watch it drift in lazy patterns to the ground. He flew up to windows and painted the frost patterns that appeared in the winter, their crystalline markings unique to each set. He flew over lawns and around trees just enjoying the winter, and unfortunately the alone time. He didn't mind but sometimes he wished he could find the real reason Winter had seemed to become the least favorite Holiday.

That was when he saw her, a girl, obviously in her early 20's was lying on her back under a tree only a hoodie and snow pants on with a pair of boots, as she stared at the sky, watching the snow fall on her. A light layer of white dots already splattered across her clothing. Her arms folded under her head she looked content and perfectly happy lying there in the snow. Jack hovered above her, then landed, not disturbing the snow as he stood on it. Even lying there as she was, all bundled up, cheeks rosy red from the cold, something was special about her, or maybe… that's why she was special. She was just there, unguarded, strands of her brown hair peeked out from under the white and blue hat, its tassels skewed to the sides. Jack watched as she moved her lips in song, very softly singing to herself. "Jack Frost nipping at your nose" She opened her eyes most likely to see if anyone was bout to hear her sing. Jack just waited, human's couldn't usually see him. But her eyes focused right where he was standing. "Who are you?"

Jack looked around, behind him and then back to the girl. "Um… Me?"

"….Yes Do you see anyone else?"

"No…"

"Then you obviously?" She laughed.

"I'm … Jack"

"Isabella"

"That's a nice name"

"I hate it. I prefer Isis" She smirked. "My mother hates me being called Isis"

"I love that one even more." Something underlined his voice, a sort of, flirtatious purr.

"Thank you, someone has good taste" She smirked.

He laughed. "Oh, I… like winter a lot…"

"I can tell" She laughed as well, her eyes scanning his hair and clothing. "I do too though, its so beautiful"

He ran a hand over his spiky ice-blue hair and grinned. "Yes… it is"

She sat up, resting her hands behind her in the snow, and looking at Jack. "Why exactly where you watching me?"

"To be honest, its been quite some time since I've seen someone enjoy the snow like you have… its just, refreshing to watch you lay there actually enjoying the chill"

She laughed once again. "Oh yes, I quite enjoy the snow"

Her eyes drifted away from Jack and over at the lawn. "Hey… you wanna help me build a snow man?" She asked, the grin on her face making her seem very child like.

Surprised at this, Jack laughed. "Um… sure" He shrugged, after a seconds pause he held out his hand to help her up. She grabbed his hand and smiled softly as she stood up.

"Oh! You're not wearing any gloves! Aren't your hands cold?" She looked down at her own hands then at his.

"Um… No, not really" He shifted his glance to the ground behind her. "I uh- had my hands in my pockets most of the time" He quickly used the excuse so she wouldn't wonder why the cold didn't phase him.

"Wait, I know I have more inside." She grinned and turned and headed quickly into her house. Jack laughed to himself, and stretched his arms above his head, he slowly walked towards the steps, just as she walked out of the front door. She went to run down the steps and, on the second step she hit an icy patch that hadn't quite been melted by the sand her mother put down and she fell forward, a scream barely escaping her lips before Jack caught her.

"You alright?" He looked down and asked, helping her to stand.

She nodded, her blushing making her face even more red then it was from the chill. "Th-thanks for saving me" she said quietly.

He still had one arm partially around her, so he patted her shoulder lightly, then moved away to look at what she slipped on. "Ooh, that's a nasty patch of ice, small, no wonder you didn't notice it" He smiled, hoping to cheer her up a little.

She glanced over then nodded confidently. "Yeah, your right" She held out her hands
showing she still had a pair of gloves and a pair of mittens clutched in each hand. "I wasn't sure which you'd want."

He took the gloves from her, she tossed the mittens onto the porch. "Mittens aren't very good for making snowmen"

"Nah, I know but I figured I'd offer anyway"

"Thank you"

"You're welcome" She grinned. "Shall we start that snow man?"

"Sure" He nodded in agreement.

"You start the bottom, I'll work on the middle" She stated and they both went about making their designated parts of the snowman,. Once Jack finished he rolled it to a good spot and watched as Isabella rolled hers over and put it on top. "You have quite the talent for rolling Snowballs" She laughed.

"Oh, Why thank you madam!" He smirked. "It comes quite naturally, I've been told I have a gift."

She rolled her eyes. "Oh don't get all cocky now." With a chuckle she looked at the snowman. "You make the head, I'll grab a carrot, some buttons and something for the mouth. Try and find a few sticks if your done before I'm back."

"Be careful going up the steps" He grinned.

"Haha, don't worry I will" She headed inside as he began to make the head.

He finished rolling the head and grabbed a couple branches about the same length for the snowman's arms. He put them in place, glancing up to see if Isis was coming yet, he gave them a little extra frost to hold them in place.

Soon she came back, holding a handful of buttons and rocks, and a carrot in the other hand. "I got a couple rocks that are from an old fish tank we used to have"

He nodded and took the buttons and rocks, carefully placing each and then, Isis placed the nose.

"Hmmm" She stepped back and looked at the snow man, then pulled her hat off her head, her brown hair falling over her shoulders and bangs flopping in her face. She placed the hat on the snowman's head and then ran a hand through her hair, making it fall into a semi-neat order once again.

Jack smiled and pulled off his scarf, and wrapped it around the Snowman, it matched her hat pretty well.

"Are you sure you don't want to keep that on?"

"Naw, my Jacket is pretty warm" he smiled. "I have three more at home. Plus, It'll give me an excuse to stop by again, and if I don't, you keep if for me, okay?" He smiled what she thought was quite a charming smile.

She laughed and nodded. "Alright Either me or Frost here will hang onto it until you want it back, plus, I'd like it if you came by again. You're different, you seem to understand me… I need a friend like that."

He looked back at the snowman to avoid blushing, Jack Frost didn't blush. "I'll have to make sure to stop by again then" Everything about this girl intrigued him. He had had more fun with her today then he had in a long time with any human. Since human eyes and brains refused to acknowledge the presence of a sprite, and if, In the off chance that they do, they don't usually see them as such. His hair was often perceived as blond, the few times he was seen, but she seemed to have noticed the blue and white tones to it.

"Would you like to come inside for some hot chocolate? My mom requested that I invite you in… She seems to think I'm 5 and I've just made my first friend" She laughed "You don't have to if you don't want to."

"Sure… I'd like that I could use some warming up before I head home." If only she knew how untrue that was, Jack could withstand much colder temperatures then human's could. He could be in -300 F and still be fine. Although he'd never had a reason to make it that cold.

They headed inside, Jack holding the door open for her as they entered the house. They peeled off their winter clothes, Isis had worn a sweater and a hoodie instead of a winter Jacket, but was wearing a black tank top underneath, Jack laughed at the thought of some wearing a tank top in the winter.

Jack had to think of what he wanted his under clothes to look like, he usually never took off his 'show outfit' so he just usually left them a very plain white color. He left the sweater a very soft white material, and made jeans appear for his bottoms. Human males didn't wear the same clothes male sprite did, he didn't want Isis to think him overly strange, not just yet.

I'll try! It's definitely easier to write when there's actually snow on the ground xD
