History:
When hostilities broke out between Earth Federation and the Spacial Alliance, the Alliance was able to beat the federation forces back with their superior humanoid weaponry dubbed "Mobile Suits". However, when they got to Earth they were hardly expecting their gravity-bound counterparts to also experiment with humanoid weaponry. As such, their old-style mobile suits, primarily consisting of old Zaku and GM types, were caught off-guard by the old Destroids that formed the first line of defense against the invaders. The first of these was the Destroid Tomahawks, a type of bipedal tank armed with massive arm-cannons and heavy missile launchers on the shoulders, thick armor plating resistant to most artillery, the Tomahawks were successful in holding off mobile suits, at first. As the war dragged on, newer and upgraded mobile suits were proving more effective in outmaneuvering and outperforming the slower and aging Destroids, prompting the Federation forces to upgrade to more humanoid weaponry. However, while there were fewer Destroids on the front lines, they proved invaluable for defensive roles, holding off waves of mobile suits. Towards the end of the war, Destroids were upgraded to operate in space, taking the war to Mars itself were the Tomahawk's descendants, the MK VII Battle Ax, waded through wave after wave of enemy combatants. Although it's non-modular, Battle Ax is invaluable as both a defensive and offensive weapon. For defense, alongside its sibling Destroid Iron Wall, the Battle Ax can unleash a torrent of missiles and cannon-fire that can repel even the most persistent of attackers, while for offense, its cannons can be switched from beam-based to artillery to either blast through defenses and/or bombard targets from afar while advancing on them. When the Sol Alliance ship Galactica was warped into the same universe James was in, a company of Destroid Battle Axes were in use along with a company of Destroid Iron Walls to be used for both defense and offense.
AN: One of the few designs I decided to draw inspiration from the Macross saga, but undoubtedly not the last. I always had a soft spot for heavily armed and armored giant monoliths made for mayhem, probably might have some thing to do with the fact that I was a tanker.
