Often mistaken for an over sized echidna the soil dragon lives in the desert areas where it burrows through the red dirt and creates nests where it can raise its young. The thorns on its tail and body help protect it from other dragon species while the horns on its head help to attract mates. The larger the males horns the more likely they are to attract a female. The root-like growths on their bodies helps to detect tremors in the earth and possible prey.
I tried to do the Smaugust challenge this year as I thought it would be fun to create some new dragons. Unfortunately I was only able to complete 2 artworks due to a lot happening this month. Despite that I hope you enjoy this new dragon and his other counterpart! -> www.deviantart.com/ulvenfool/a…
