Description
So over on twitter I asked the question "What insect/arachnid species would you choose for your 'sona.'" I got loads of interesting responses! I chose a cricket as my own since I used to always try and catch them when I was little and I have loads in my back garden right this moment. I may use this guy as a second sona! So what bug would you choose?Materials- Watercolour, Coloured Pencil, fineliner

I really like how you’ve handled the anthropomorphism. An insect-based character isn't very common, and I believe these animals are hard to give human qualities because they are very different from us in so many ways. The simplicity of the shapes and curves add a sense of fluidity to the combination of human and bug characteristics, making it come together on the whole. I especially love how you did the hands: The small and pointy fingers resemble actual claws and gloves at the same time. Speaking of gloves- one of my favourite things about arthropods is how their exoskeleton is reminiscent of armour or some kind of fancy clothing, and I think you captured that in your design, even if it wasn’t intended.
The traditional colouring, textures and inking is lovely as well, and very pleasant to the eye.

It's great you mentioned the hands because one thing I really like about insects is that they have very cool looking "feet"
