And Roon is napping. Not only does his huge body consume a lot of energy, even when doing almost nothing.
But his huge multi-layered eyes are also rather light sensitive, so under the curtain he goes!
Existing is a hard job.

Actually, he should not be able to see at all with two separate pupils per eye. Focusing on the retina won’t work with two beams interfering with one another. But instead of blackness he’d see only white.

With respect, you can’t just “ignore” the over exposure on old fashioned photographic film, and then be able to see the image the camera was trying to take. Once it’s overexposed, that’s all there is, a featureless blur of whiteness. The retina works the same way with the pupil. It HAS to be narrowly focused from ONE source onto ONE spot on the retina or all the optic nerve tells the brain is “White blur” or “darkness” when light is absent.
This is why the depiction of an invisible person who can still see bugs me because it’s NONSENSE, (unless they’re not transparent but instead are bending the light around the surface of their skin). You simply can’t have more than one opening for an eye to work.
That said, I’ve been wondering why all Yinglets don’t seem to be very farsighted. Scientists have proven that slit pupils CANNOT not be farsighted. While able to spot a mouse or bird from a great distance, When zeroing in for the kill, foxes and small cats have to rely on their whiskers, hearing and smelling to zero in on the last few feet of their prey when their eyes inevitably lose track of them up close.
Yinglets should ALL be using reading glasses for any hands on small tasks, any that can’t be done blind, like tying knots, and such. In addition to hands, a craftsying could refine things by brushing them against his whiskers, maybe plunking and tapping them to gage their density, as blind sculptors do.
But reading and writing? Not ONE should be able to do that up close without glasses.

I thought that that was a creative touch using Minalasi's tail as a border between the top panel and the ones below it.
Poor Mori'Rai, not only is his healed injury on full display, he's now (probably) going to have to disclose the damage done to his spine as well. That, or the Patriarchs and Minalasi are knowledgeable enough to recognize what harm was done to him. What might Casifar think when he realizes just how painful the incident in the cave was for the poor kid?

And me thinks Rai just earned mad-props from Patriarch Casifar. Extra points for symmetry. That's one of those, "How did you survive that?!" scars.
And now he gets to tell the story of how he survived what amounts to a Shark Attack...with all his limbs, and tail.
Sure there might be doubters but he's got the horrible/awesome scars to prove it.
And Casifar likely knows enough about scars to know a genuine one, from a self-inflicted one.

OH MAN! I knew they had scars from the Tide Killer, but good lord! It looks like his back was sliced like a loaf of bread! No wonder they have had such back problems!

Yea,
that fish got him really good.
Those long teeth, penetrated deep enough to hit his lungs.
And, when he wriggled himself out of its grip, they teared deep and scratched his spinal cord.
So while it healed somewhat nicely, he still gets painful spasms and labored breathing when overexerting himself.
