Description I've been making Banners for a while and figured if I could do it, everyone else could too, you don't need Photoshop you can do it in The GIMP which can be downloaded here: [link]
This tutorial was made in The GIMP 2.6.3 for Mac, but I don't think the other versions differ too much.

It is my first tutorial so it is far from perfect so if you have any questions about the tutorial don't hesitate to send me a message on here and I'll get back to you as soon as possible

The font used for the Banners can be found here: [link]

Please don't copy this tutorial or put it anywhere else on the internet other than here without asking me first to save me hunting you down and putting spoons in places Thanks!

I hope this tutorial is useful! It would mean a lot to me if people who use this tutorial could +fav it just so I know that I'm helping some people out.

Thanks for reading!

Getting stuck at actually using the scanlines as a patter. I'm able to paste it into the patterns folder in my GIMP folder, but when I reopen GIMP after quitting, I can't find it. I'm starting to get frustrated /:

I'm getting stuck at trying to actually use the patter. I pasted it into the patterns folder, and when I go into GIMP after closing it, I can't find it in the patterns folder at all. I'm getting really frustrated...

What did you mean "add gradiant to the image"?

There is actually an easier way to make scanlines.... when you finish the userbar you duplicate the BG layer, then (on the dupe layer)go to filters>distort>video. to get the normal scanlines the settings should be as following:

Video Pattern: 3x3
Additive box: no tick.

I'd love the tutorial...If I could read it. You need to choose a larger font, or change your font color to white so we can read it.

Sorry, I guess because I knew what it said I didn't see that problem Is that better or should I make the font larger? Thanks for letting me know

The font could stand to be a bit larger, but you could also add a touch of spacing between the letters or switch the font to something like Acens for instance. Acens is available on Dafont if you don't have it it's available here: [link]
