this almost made me cry, this is emotional, they deserve happiness so much! I would love to just play 10 extra hours of just them being happy without any killing or anything like that, just pressing buttons to play guitar and learning to swim, telling jokes, petting animals, that would be amazing if I just played nothing but happiness, amazing art!

I like this because it could be a scene from a trailer for a second game.
I could see Joel becoming sort of Tommy and Maria's Marshall and troubleshooter, roving the countryside around Jackson, looking for Hunters, nests of Infected and towns that might be interested in trade. Much against his will, Ellie insists on tagging along and she rapidly becomes his sort-of-apprentice. When time finally catches up with him and the Doc tells Joel that his bones just won't knit anymore, Ellie becomes Jackson's new Marshall in his place and that's where her story (and, potentially, The Last of Us 2) really picks up again.
