So is this like a What If The Pevensies Never Left Narnia thing? I can see Lucy falling in love with Tumnus.

I'm not the only one, but I'm definitely one of those people who show it multiple times.

Nothing's confirmed or denied, but I like to think Tumnus and Lucy get involved romantically...when Lucy is at the appropriate age, that is.

Yes, that does sorta make sense, but how does it work since he's a faun?

Well, he's half human, so it's not totally outrageous. Plus, I've heard of fauns marrying humans as well as dryads.

I don't think it'd be fair to classify Tumnus as an animal. After all, he still walks and talks like a man, and he has some human attributes.

oh, I'm not trying to say he's an animal, sorry if it came across that way.

You're fine. I'm talking about other people who bash a Tumnus/Lucy relationship because of that.

This is one of my older pictures. I've yet to get the hang of drawing babies.

Yeah, it's a bummer Disney dropped out of the Narnia project, but I'm glad Fox is stepping in to take up the slack. So, we won't have to worry about the Narnia movies stopping. And yes, I support the idea of a Tumnus/Lucy relationship. I know a lot of people balk at the idea, but I think it's very sweet. When you love someone, really and sincerely, you love them for who they are on the inside, not on the outside. I like to think of it as a Narnian twist on "Beauty and the Beast". The Pevensies were in Narnia for about 15 years before going back, and there are so many stories you could tell about Narnia. C.S. Lewis keeps it awfully vague, leaving plenty of space for you to fill in yourself!

Despite their outward "family" appearance, Disney's internal power struggles are legendary. I prefer to think that things happen for a reason, and after thinking about it perhaps it's for the best that Disney dropped out.
How many people actually do balk at the idea of an intimate relationship between a woman and a faun? And what are their demographics? Granted, I'm 51 and so I'm probably strange for my age group, but I don't see what the issue is. Is it the suggestion of bestiality?
Beauty and the Beast. Now that's one I could tell a story or two about, but not at this time. I will remark that I think Disney was wrong to turn the Beast back into the handsome prince, for all sorts of Scriptural reasons; and not the least of which (to borrow from Hebrews) is the concept of suffering equipping us for the calling which God placed upon our lives. Ergo, "While He was a Son, Jesus learned special, active obedience by what He suffered, equipping Him for the position of our High Priest before God." And if it worked for Head, it will surely work for His Body as well.
And one more thing, too: Imagine if Lucy and Tumnus married and raised a family, and suddenly one day the Pevensies disappeared from Narnia and were never seen again. Now, fast-forward to "Prince Caspian." How much more powerful would it have been for Lucy to return to Narnia only to discover that Mr. Tumnus and all her descendants were now dead. All of them living out their lives without ever learning what had become of her. And then, when Lucy is walking in that underground structure and the camera passes by the drawing of Mr. Tumnus under the gas lamp.
Oh, wow.
Yeah, there's LOTS of great storytelling there, if someone only has the courage to explore it.
Finally, as regards to C.S. Lewis keeping it vague, I think you answered it. He wrote a letter to a fan, answering some questions about Narnia and then suggested they should try their hand at writing fairy tales, obstensively set in Narnia. I think that's the reason Lewis kept it vague: So that the readers could invent their own tales to put themselves into that land as well.

Sadly, no one can publish those tales except as FanFictions. But at least people have tried to capture what went on during the 15 years of the Pevensies rule.

Well, in regular mythology, there is only male fauns (no females). They have kids with whether human women or nymphs.
