Since I posted my cleaner version of the Tali in-game photo, I have had SO many comments telling me things like "She should be gray. She should be purple. She should be blue. She should be more pink. Why does she have fingernail polish?"Frankly, it gets a bit annoying. Although many people do just appreciate that I did a cleaner version the best I could and like the improvements, I made this compare to show exactly what I did and why.
The in game pic already had fingernail polish. It had a heavy blue tint from the room lighting, and flares on the photo itself (not counting the sun flare in the picture background).
Even through the tint and flares, you can still see a human flesh tone.
The only thing I added on my own that wasn't in the photo was more accurate hand shape and a purple tint to her hair highlights.
I do realize her skin could be more pale and perhaps grayish but I'm no Photoshop pro.
I didn't do this for profit. It was just for fun, and for fellow fans that might want a better look at her basic appearance that Bioware was kind enough to show. It isn't perfect, but it is my best attempt at a more clean version of what was shown in the game.

I like this a lot. In the end, I like the design or the quarians that Bioware went with as it is consistent with what we could already see, parallels the hoods they wear, and I find it refreshing to not have another bald alien with ridges on their head. However as you've demonstrated Bioware was very lazy in editing the image they used and I think there is no excuse for not rendering Tali and the quarians in-game. They should have appeared in the recordings of the Morning War.

Would you like me to reupload this mod from BSN (it was shut down) to the Nexus mods site? I'd be happy to do the honourΒ since I still have it downloaded unless you would perhaps make an account and publish it there. This is my favourite Tali photo mod yet and I'd hate to see it disappear forever.

If you don't mind me asking, four years later from your last comment, but what photoshop brush(es) did you use for her markings? Are there any brushes that are similar to it, or did you just make it yourself? If so, do you mind sharing with me how you did it or sharing a brush that's similar or making a brush like what you created? I'm trying to make my own Tali photo, and I cannot, for the life of me, cannot do the markings correctly. I've been searching for anyone giving answers for the markings [if they used brushes or just free-handed it], but alas, no one has said anything.

I dunno... Maybe the decision to go ahead and show her was made at the last second before deadline. I'm glad we got a canon look for her but it sure wasn't done well.

Of course, and I love the canon look of quarians. The problem really comes from how lazy and half-assed it was... I mean, a character as important as Tali at least deserved an original design.

Amazing work! I was so glad that Tali didn't look too alien-like in ME3. I was eager to see her face and when I got that pic of her on my nightstand, I was amazed at her beauty. You have captured a clean-cut version of Tali and for that, I salute you! Lol

I don't know why they are painted. It was like that in the game pic though. She's a girly girl so I wouldn't say it is totally unrealistic. She could have a butterfly tramp stamp over her ass too for all we know.

Maybe they have chambers on the ships where they can take off the suits temporarily. I dunno. I'm sure they take parts off to screw and clean themselves or do stuff with their hair, now that we know they have hair. Either way though, your point is very valid. Why even paint your nails if you will be in a suit almost all of the time.

I've never had anyone complain about the slight purple tint I added. Only people saying she should be way more purple, or other colors from her outfit.

The purple is too centeralised, can you make it sparce hilights?

I don't think I can without affecting the color of the whole picture too much. I'm not very good with photoshop, otherwise her skin would be generally more pale too.
I asked a friend to help me make a couple of color tweaks. If he does I will likely replace my original with the corrections.
