I love how you used the same base scene/composition for the top two. It really shows how much variation is possible with colors, mood, and texture. Amazing stuff!

Wow, i be lucky to try finish all those enviroments within a weekend, on top of that it is so detailed! how long did it take you to finish all of that?! *o*! ~stares~ your artistic skills are awesome ^o^=

Thanks alot for your comment! hehe gets better with practice
They took about one and a halfhour each

some might have been up to 2,5 hours depends how detailed or how mutch I struggle =9 I never really counted the time so not exacly sure hehe.

When I feel they are finish, they are finished, even if it would take seven hours or more, I think its best not to rush it, instead observe and understand what you do, and if you struggle u need extra time to solve it and hopefully learn something from it!

But yeh thanks, im glad you liked them!

I love them! I like that the first and the second one are basically the same but with *extreme* environmental differences.
The third is my favourite, that obelisk is so eerie and I like the golden tone of the whole picture. Grass looks a little "fake" as I'd expect to see it more blurred, but it's not a big problem imho.
In the fourth, I like the light blue reflection in the lower part of the ice, it's a great effect.
The fifth looks good too, it's just I'm not very fond of that kind of environment. Water reflections should be more blurred but, as I said before, it's not a telltale problem.
BTW I noticed that in some of your environments you put elements like trees or mountains at the far left and right of the picture, as to "frame" the composition inside. Is it meant to be like that or it's a coincidence?

Cheers for your comment im glad you liked them!
The first one yeh, I think its fun and cool to redo same enviroment but in different time, good exercise, aslong as you work in layers so u dont have to repaint it all, I will probably do more of those.

Yeh the grass looks quite fake, it was because
I worked so zoomed out, so when I zoomed in it was like shit=9 didnt feel like to fix it for some reason.

and yeh the 5th one, I need to study water more its a tricky subject hehe.

and for trees and mountains, its not coincidence, I try to use them as frames or like lead objects so your eyes dont fall outXD
But I need to study composition more aswell

Wow stunning! where do u get inspiration to do such beautiful pieces? did u do a thumbnail b4 hand? i wanna be like u XD

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

UnidColor In reply to Naga-Shesh [2009-04-21 11:48:21 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! no thumbnails beforehand, I sort of pictured something I wanted to paint, often just like a mood of the picture, it could be like I wanted to paint very yellowish grass, have some waterfalls and stuff, with alot of brown and yellow colors, than I start the picture by painting the sky color and block in each element, like forground, background, mountains and give them a color I like, thats like composition part, just trying to find shapes in mountains and stuff.

Than I start adding detail in each layer, detailing out mountains, adding fogg.

But anyway to the question, I think I got some inspiration from lord of the rings even if I didnt intend to, I was watching all 3 of them during the paintings.

Sometimes I do thumbnails, or look at picture/photos for inspiration
