Actually, Simorgh is a Persian fantasy bird! A famous old story was also written about it by Attar of Nishapur (a well-known Iranian poet).

It's a Simorgh, a magical creature from ancient Iranian folk belief. In the Shahnameh, prince Fereidun befriends a simorgh by saving her babies from being eaten by a snake demon. In gratitude, she gives him two of her feathers, telling him that if he is in mortal peril and burns one of the feathers, it will magically summon her and she will save him.
