In the galaxy that only knows war, the Republic needed soldiers that can fight in this galaxy. While the regular soldier of the Republic are well trained, equipped, and led, there is still an need to have an elite special forces unit. The Ranger Corp fills this role, with its origins dating all the way back to the Republic’s war for independence, the Rangers stood ready to defend the innocents from foes wishing to exterminate them and their way of life. These elite soldiers are different from other elite formations thru out in the galaxy, they are not genetically enhanced child soldiers nor they equipped with power armor, they are volunteers fight for the love of their country. Their motto is Rangers Lead The Way, typically being the first in to the attack, clearing any obstacles that might cause significant problems for the rest of Republic military in operations. They are also masters at guerilla warfare, force multiplier, and sabotage. During the training process, Ranger recruits are taught to be stealthy to slip into places unnoticed and to be deadly with any weapon they come it across, such as Imperial bolt guns and Xenos weapons, along with an hand-to-hand combat techniques. This gave rise to the saying about the Rangers, they are quieter than shadow and deadlier than a deathclaw. Equipped with excellent M82 combat armor with M10 helmet equipped with night vision, commlink unit, and integrated rebreather unit and the Mk65 Special Forces carbine.
During the Imperium-Republic War, the Ranger Corp was deployed to only fight the Imperial forces, but also Chaos forces attempting to take advantage of the war to try and gather territory. On the planet of Zeron 3, the Imperium lost control to both a Chaos war band and planet side cult, turning into an Chaos supply world serving to be able to push into either Republic or Imperium territory with raids. A Ranger detachment was sent to destroy the supply depot and eliminate key leaders, ended up waging a guerilla war and creating a resistance force with the remaining population that did not succumb to the taint of Chaos, pushing the Chaos forces off planet. Here a Ranger is clearing out an desecrated cathedral with an M1014 Combat Shotgun, hunting down an Chaos priest that has taken the cathedral for his own nefarious needs.
