Uralowa — Finch chicks

Description The two zebra finch chicks that are left. :( Two of them died earlier today, one of them wasn't breathing very well.

These two are fine though!

The eldest is about half a day older than the younger, and both hatched last Sunday. The smaller one is the one on the left... with the egg in his hair. XD

Here, i've just fed them, so there's egg all over my hand. Dx The only reason i'm feeding them egg is because my supply of Kaytee baby bird food has stopped. My granny can't buy it anymore. Unfortunately, they can't really swallow the egg very well. Dx Their mouths get clogged up, and if i can't unclog it fast enough, then they choke. D':
They're okay for now though. Plus, they'll be getting bigger and easier to feed by the day.

I really hope they both survive.

I'll stop feeding them when they're big enough for their parents to handle.

I usually feed them a baby bird formula stuff [link] . It's amazing.
But my granny can't get it at the moment, so i had to feed these on egg. I don't know whether that led to them dying, but she's raised loads of her own chicks with egg. :< I don't know...

Also, because they're so small, i have to use a cocktail stick (with the sharp end blunted a little) to poke food in their mouths. By the time they're too big for the cocktail stick, the parents can feed them anyway. ;D
Although , i had to feed Porkchop with a cocktail stick, and he'd fledged already. :0

Ah, man. I'm really, really sorry they died. I would have loved to have seen photos of them growing up and being fed.

Augh, they both died...

I have no real idea why, they just did. :< Poor babies...
I'm guessing it was something congenital for the last one- the one before fell out of its nest.

They had their parents for warmth. :) They're my zebra finches, i just fed them until they were big enough for the parents to handle. Their mouths are sooo small...

Ahahaha, they're really transparent. XD You can see their stomachs and lungs and leetle tiny ribs omg.
And their feets are all rubbery. :>

They're fine! They're both actually a lot bigger than yesterday, and the parents have started to feed them. Dx Earlier than i expected, so it's all good. 8D

I'm sure they will. :) The parents have started to feed them a little bit (earlier than i expected), so they have a great chance. :>
