The background colors are my favorite part. Good contrast to the rather plainly colored (but more complex than expected) rabbit.

Exquisite depth. And your comparison to Gorman's stuff is so true -- your rabbit takes on a human (and very feminine) quality, especially along its shoulders and rump.

For some strange reason this makes me think of James Jean...maybe the eyes and the curvyness?
Very cool.

I don't know how to critique art half well enough (I should take some classes someday)... but ... this is definitely very good art - on a lot of levels.
suggests new ways to look at R.C.Gorman's work and perhaps other work too. Cheers!
(and a cute rabbit besides - although I just tend to see rabbits as delicious)

Really enjoying your pieces on textured paper, great feel. You noted in this one that you sealed the pastel with matte medium, I was curious how you applied it overtop? Did you used it as a spray, or were you able to paint it on without displacing the pastel much?

You can paint--delicately--over top of it. (Pastel pencil in this case.) The yellows darken a LOT, unfortunately, but things like the blues and greens hold up pretty well.

Hmm, actually I'd almost say that the Verdigris Rabbit might be more similar to this than The Wolf Ate Them. I must say though that this is probably my favorite of the three, largely for that bit of color in the upper left.

What is the world coming to that we can't just call rabbits fat?

*raise eyebrow* If I'd meant "fat" I would have said "fat." I meant "voluptuous" which is something else entirely.
