If you're interested in delving deeper into the textural aspects of painting, take a peek at Eugenia Pardue ([link] ). Her work is a reaction to the digitized art world, and as such is entirely textural.
(I am absolutely in love with your palette, by the way)

nifty colors and textures, and the ears are awesome, but the right hand appears to be smaller than the left. intentional?

Why would anyone not read all the way through your comments? Your artist's comments have a life of their own and are almost as entertaining as the art itself. XD

I really, *really* know what you mean about acrylic mediums. I spent an hour in my local art shop gaping at the sheer awesomeness of the things, and if I wasn't so broke right now I'd have the whole collection...

I'm tempted to buy a print of this and give it to my dad for Easter, if my rent check doesn't bounce...
Gorgeous work! I know exactly how dangerous it is to explore interesting new media like that, too. One minute you're doodling with a nice ink brush, the next you realize you've spent over $50 on different jars of colored ink, various brush sizes and types...

One little thing. That she's holding the egg makes it look flat. If her hand curved more, it would create a better 3D feel.

Lovely... really. I wish I could see the texture... especially since prints won't capture it either.
((On another note- que sera, sera (I believe) means "whatever happens, happens." and "Such is life" translates into "C'est la vie".
Provided I didn't mangle and murder my french.
Just thought you'd want to know... and I'd mention it, since I love both phrases and now you know! *cute music from Learning Channel plays in background*))

"I blame Liquitex. Liquitex is a pusher."
Seriously. Liquitex owns my soul. >.> It's deffinately concerning. I mean, before you know it, you'll start seeing "98% of teenagers have tried Liquitex. If you're one of the 2% that hasn't, put this in your signature."
Someone should do something about it. Like Truth. They should do commercials to raise awareness.

Anyway, the image holds a lot of its original tridimensionality... like picasso said, colors have itself a volume that grows according to their light "radioactivity".. for instance, the area between the chin and coat neck holds an inmense "height" jump to it... great

Eggcellent! Sorry, couldn't resist. I have been burned by the Liquitex-man, too. Still, in the scan it adds a cool embossed effect to the BG.

Liquitex, I know, I know ... when I first started painting miniatures, I had a few tubes. And then more. And then more. I couldn't stop, and suddenly I had a few dozen.
Most of which dried up when I waffled on painting for a couple years (sniff snuffle)

I know the treachery of texture mediums.

I like it a lot. It's a real pity, though, that we can't see (or feel) the three-dimensional texture which you describe.
Eggs? How about Terry Pratchett's:

Love the textures--That's one of my favorite thing about Liquitex. It might sound weird, but I love touching dried paintings... Leaving heaps and valleys to catch the light.
Almost peaceful...but the red in the backround is too firelike. Almost tense. Very interesting!

...i also love acrylics,I have always prefered them over oils. One of my professors quit being "friendly" with me once I had a long discussion about why I liked them better-they disagreed(and thats ok with me),its just my thing, lol.

Those are some nice textures, even if you claim a lot is lost in the scan.
By the way, what kind of scanner do you have? If I tried that with mine, the slightly raised portions would be clear, but everything else not completely flush against the glass would come out blurry.
