A short Christmas story I wrote. Have a merry Christmas everyone and remember to be nice to Father Christmas!

”Father Christmas was a provider. He provided food and shelter for hundreds of elves, in exchange of their energy to be used for making toys, candy, transporting resources and in general helping him out on the burden that rested on his shoulders. It was a difficult job for one man – or a being – to begin with, and he knew that he couldn't handle it alone. Father Christmas was also a tough boss, very strict and harsh with his orders, as he knew that keeping that big of a group of creatures in order there would need to be unquestioned discipline.

During a Christmas Eve, he was travelling in the forest with his sack of presents and a big group of elves helping him with carrying the sack. It was a long journey that they would have to make, and as the year had been bad with crops and the food was scarce, everyone were feeling a bit powerless except Father Christmas. Maybe he didn't show it, or maybe he didn't need food at all, tales told that he had been in this world for a long, long time. There was a rumour going on between the elves of Korvatunturi that Father Christmas had been keeping lots of food to himself while the elves were starving, but no one knew if this was true.

The doubts between the elves had grown so strong, that during that day while Father Christmas and the elves were walking through the snowy forest, one outspoken, hungry and frustrated elf decided to speak out loud. Someone could call it a small mutiny between the crew, the elves against Father Christmas. What the elves didn't know, Father Christmas had become a very powerful being, and it was a mistake that the elves of the group and their families would pay dearly for. The elves call the following a great battle, a fight of honor or in similar, spirit-lifting names. What it really was, a brutal, bloody, onesided slaughtering. With his white cape, tainted by the red, elven blood, Father Christmas continued his annual journey and delivered the presents with dark thoughts inhabiting his mind.

And still in this day, Father Christmas and the elves wear red instead of white, as a reminder of that day and the consequences that will follow anyone who dares to question or rebel against Father Christmas.”
