This isn't an anime torso. This is how to draw an actual real human male torso.

It's how they draw torsos in their art style. Which is semi-realism, so it is not 100% realistic.

No piece of art is ever 100% realistic. Everything is distorted by the individual's perception.

well, I am not sure to get into this, but since the anatomy can be actual male anatomy, the idea of execution and reference as only model, matches the idea of generic art, and for what it looks, in my opinion, just an opinion, matches more that of anime or comic. because it is not a common aproach to draw from natural bodies, not the average male body you would find in real life, I think 99% of male torsos (dressed I have to admit) didnt apeared to look like this one. XD. but as I said, the anatomy is alrigh for generic reference

No worries, just trying to explain it. Just sounded like you aren't sure what makes it a tutorial for the human body. It doesn't represent a general male torso, obviously, but it's not "general art" (per se, since it's meant as a tutorial and not a piece ever to be hung in a gallery and critiqued and admired, if that makes sense). It's giving the outline of where muscles and definitions go and how they move. Adding fat for a bigger body would be as simple as softening the definition and increasing the skin around the muscles. But the muscles would always be in the same place, no matter how much weight a person has on their body. By knowing where the muscles/bones are and how they move, a person using a reference like this gets the idea how to make a proportional character in a variety of poses. Tutorials that show a very toned body are there to show where the muscles are under skin and how to show that muscles exist (and are in the place) by proper shading; hence the "Slightly Lighter, Slightly Darker." Does that make sense? Anime and other cartoon characters are extremely seldom this close to realism (either exaggerated muscles or exaggerated fat). I'm assuming you're looking at the paint brush style and colors when you say it looks "anime" but it's just a personal style by this artist and not specific to anime art. On a real male human body, this tutorial is where the muscles are located and this is what they should relatively look like if a person were to draw a toned body. This is the reason it is a tutorial for the human body. There are tutorials for how to draw anime bodies, and they look nothing like this. Hopefully that helps
