I just now realized he reminds me of a cross between Solid Snake and Vincent Valentine. Scary, but kicker of twelve colors of ass.

One thing that helps to get a photo realistic style is to avoid sharp lines. A line is usually created by a change in value in natural things so if you blend them out it really makes a difference.
You did a really good job with the shadows to define the bone structure and lips. I am really bad at making things I have imagined look real and that is the hardest part for me.

The shading and stuff on the face looks really good, but the lack of detail on the shirt sorta throws things off.
