Description I always find the work by John Singer Sargent very inspiring. His loose style, yet in absolute control of the medium.
A study of John Singer Sargent's 'ortrait of Miss Dorothy Vickers'..

I saw some of his paintings in National Portrait Gallery and Tate Britain. I can't help visiting the gallery every time I get a chance to go to London.

I spent the entire day on this painting. Oil on canvas. No tracing. I aimed for the spot then put the paint on the right place. If it's the wrong place, then I just scrape the paint off with a palette knife completely, then try again, until I get it right eventually. Just want to get the feeling of how he might have achieved this wonderful portrait. Sargent probably spent only an hour on it. Genius.

It must have been alot of fun making this! It also looks so doll-like and beautiful. I think you are well on your way to be a painter, if that is what you want to be. ^^
