Well I haven't posted anything for ages, so I thought I would try and do something to put up here. I visited Chatsworth a few days ago and have pretty much been bingeing on anything 18th century related ever since!It was supposed to be Marie Antoinette, but it doesn't look much like her, and the dress is actually a more english styled one. I used a couple of portraits for reference, and trusty old Taschen Fashion for some dress ideas, but as usual, my imagination didn't need all that much help thinking up an outfit for her.
Mixed media because I pretty much used anything I could be bother to unpack from my uni boxes; Copic Marker, pencil crayon, gouache, ink and Photoshop.
I also used a pattern made by =MouritsaDA-Stock for the dress fabric.
ETA: Decided to spruce this up a bit with a background and slightly different colour scheme. The pattern used in the background is part of the pattern set [link] >Wiedemann Patterns by ~Zebii . Check them out, because they are beautiful.
ETA2: I am hopefully going to make this costume for a photoshoot to put in my professional portfolio. The fabric is a different pattern from this design, but similar colours, and the trim will be the same!

That pattern must have taken you a good chunk of time! I've always admired people who draw everything by hand. Love her playful and flirty expression and how decadent the dress is!

I have been very sneaky in my choice of model, as she is the same size as me, so hopefully I will be able to wear the costume afterwards!

Oh gosh, this is quite a lovely piece I must say! The background with its rococo influenced pattern frame her beautifully, and the dress is oh so adorable. She has such a pretty look on her face, and her hair is perfect!

Degree is going good, in my final year now so work is crazy and I have no real time to draw, which makes me sad. Trying to get stuff together portfolio-wise too, but am thinking of doing a two-pronged attack combining costume plates and cakes, no-one turns down cakes, right?
