Description Another visualization of what a rainbow wave might look like. The idea was it occurred on an alien planet with something other than water for an ocean. For example, Titan has methane oceans under it's icy crust. Who knows how light prisms from such a substance. It was also inspired by super rare and special planets in a game I played as a teen, called Star Control II. Rainbow planets were super rare and there were only maybe a half dozen or so of them in the entire galaxy, but their location could be sold to the trader species for lots of credits. You could also find huge deposits of the rarest minerals, but you had to risk the loss of crew members to the planets inhospitable surface, where constant earthquakes and lightning strikes would quickly decimate your tiny surface ship. Star Control II was one of the coolest games I play during that time and had much more replay value and potential play time, compared with other games of the era. Games like No Man Sky, Elite: Dangerous and Star Citizen are all spiritual descendants of this game, which is now considered to be one of the best games of all time. It's certainly on my list!
