Description
This is my Pewter Velvet dress, really gorgeous velvet, and the trim is black seed-beaded fringe. I wore this dress to the Premiere Party of the Dressing the Galaxy exhibit in LA... You can see it in this pic of me with GEORGE LUCAS! [link]Related content

I love the dress, esp. the back. Did you design it? the fabric looks really soft. At first I thought it was satin by the highlights on the texture, but velvet is even better

It was a lucky chance! That exhibit was going to start on Sept 12th and my birthday is the 16th, so I was planning to go... but they booked the costumes for a fashion show in NY that weekend, so I heard the rumor the exhibit was going to open a week later. I was upset, because my birthday is always trashed and wrote them to see if the rumor was true. And I got a call... because it was my birthday they wanted to invite me to the invite-only opening party! When you wish upon a star *grin*
It was a really wicked cool velvet, almost tie-died in metallics

Was it hard to work with? It looks stretchy. ._. Not a fan of stretchy myself, but it seems like all the good fabric is stretchy. >>

Yep, that's stretch velvet. It's not too bad if you remember to use a stitch for stretch fabrics and don't pull it while you're sewing.

Yeah, it's the pulling while sewing that I have difficulty with. I just finished my prom dress, and the fabric got all stretched out a the collar so it looks kinda funny...it was disappointing, but I hope I covered it up well enough. Any advice in that situation for the future?

Yep. I found a walking foot helps a bit so the machine doesn't pull it. For stretch stitches, most machines have an option that looks like a dashed line on the left side and a zigzag stitch on the right. It's not a double needle stitch, it just kinda looks like two rows of stitches, but that's the one used for stretch. That and make sure you pin it real good and be careful about using your hands to guide the fabric only. I gotta remind myself that I don't need to pull to get it to move

I've shared the photo of you and George with a couple of people who know you. We are all sure that was one of the highpoints of your life, and that you will remember it fondly for a very long time.
Very nice dress as well. It's a very curious thing that you are on my model wish list as much for you costumes as your look, and I have access to a studio relatively close to you starting Monday.

Ooooh, yeah... and it was great... George was just kinda standing there, doing the whole PR thing, people were going up, getting picture taken, walking away, and he was just spacing. After I got my pic taken, I turned to say thank you, and he noticed that I was talking to him, and smiled and went "Whoa!"

It's near Pecos and Sunset. I'd like to think its for fun, but I've got this whole vission of me being a pro photographer, so it's actually work, though not full time yet.
I would like to photograph you and your creations (or a model of your choice wearing your creations) for the experience, and would end up treating you as if you were a client, which you sort of would be, you just wouldn't be paying me. I'm just waiting now for you to make time in your busy schedule for me.
