Description I had never seen this type of spider before and I found this one in an undeveloped land plot across from Harwood and Bayly here in Ajax. Apparently this is a common spider.. but I've never seen it before. Often found in gardens and they are rather large this one was about 2 inches long including the legs. I didn't want to get to close because it would freak me out. I have spider phobia but I got about 5 inches away from it with my camera. The latin name of this Spider is Argiope aurantia

Nice capture. Brave of you cause I have a spider phobia too. It's clear and off center giving the picture a nice appeal.

You know what was even worse, it was a windy day. Every time I got close, a gust of wind would shove that humongous spider in my face, I nearly fell over a few times because of that. I was really freaking, but I really wanted a shot. This thing is like 2 inches long.
