Description
The Long-tailed duck is the animal of the month in the Wildlife--Awareness group! They are amazing arctic birds that dive deeper than any other sea duck. They are rated as Vulnerable on the Global IUCN Red List and are threatened by a variety of things, including increasing contamination levels in the northern waters they live in, fishing practices, and hunting.

This is a non-breeding male, which just means that this is how a male looks during the non-breeding season. Usually breeding plumage is the fancy-looking outfit, but this species struck me as especially odd in that the non-breeding plumage looks more striking to me. I guess I'm not a duck lol.

Materials: Black Micron pigma pens, white gel pen, ohuhu alcohol markers, and prismacolor colored pencils on gray card stock, 10x8 inches.
