Description Here's another animation inspired by Dwarf Fortress.
A lone adventurer stumbles upon a dwarf city, deep in the caves.

It was quite a challenge for me.
32 colours, 100 frames!

Enjoy!

Here's a coub too!

Someone's gotta say it, so might as well be me. Dat dorf-ass! Anyway, I love the atmosphere of the animation, but what self-respecting dwarf would wear a sword into battle? A human-made one, on top of that?!

I think that dorf would wear anything if it's free

Aye. Every Urist does that. My father Urist did it, my grandfather Urist did it. Except for me. I'm Likot.

The atmosphere is great, but there's a few issues I see with the lighting on the dwarf.
First, the purple clashes a bit too much with the pants and shirt. If you added some of the purple to those colors (best way is to take a brush with about 30% opacity and paint over em with the purple. It would help it blend in more.

Second, The lighting on the clothes is coming more from behind the dwarf instead of from the lantern. You have it right on the arm, face, and boots though

I don't use opacity, i paint it pixel by pixel.  Here i tried to fit in 32 colours palette. I listened to advice to fit in 32 colours palette, i dislike the result (some say that colours are badly picked- true) i won't restrain myself. If people don't think that's the pixel art way- their choice.

Still it's a finished work. I got quite a number of negative replies and i don't feel like i'll remake it in more colours.

I wasn't so much advocating adding more colors, more of unifying what you already have. Here's a great tutorial for making a color palette that flows well over several differing colors. I suggested adding the purple to your green and blue because those 2 colors clash with the rest of the image and adding in a little purple to their hues would help bring them more in line so it flows better.

Thank you for your concern! You know that without your tutorials i wouldn't be where i am now, so i'm grateful to you.
Still this piece is a bad experience. I don't want to restrict myself too much in the future, unless i do some challenge.

Sometimes color palettes can be an asset to the piece; especially when you want to convey a certain mood (like the warm inviting home in that tutorial.) Other times they can get in the way. It's good to work with your colors and not worry a lot about how many you use, but if you find yourself picking out ones that are just a few degrees off from each other I would just pick whichever you like more of the 2 and use that.

I'm actually in the process of cleaning up some old sprite bases I did and trying to reduce the colors used. So far I think I've gotten like 2-3 colors taken out without losing much.
