Have you ever kicked your own ass so hard, it started to sing from happiness?I just did.
I was SO proud of that image 3 years ago. Well, why shouldn't I? It has all the most awesome stuff photoshop has to offer - textures, filters, dodge, burn and do you see it right there? I figured out what multiply is and set the lineart to it to flat-block underneath! SO awesome! It was my most faved and commented deviation at the time which only stroked my ego as I looked at my bestest creation ever.
And now almost exactly 3 years have passed... and bam!, the old stuff doesn't look so awesome anymore, does it?
Thank you guys for sticking with me through that time and motivating me to work by your faves, comments and critiques... and of course keeping me company on the streams
Progress feels so good.

I think you went a little overboard with the teeth on the remake. They don't look like the boneshattering instruments of death and torture as they did in the original. They look a little fragile and I think that there are too many for the bite to, well, do more serious damage besides slashing.

Wow, awesome improvement! The new one has such atmosphere and depth. It really makes it seem like your "finished" piece of 2008 is actually just the concept sketch for the new one.
A lot of times when artists discover the doge/burn tools, that's all they use from then on for shading. Then they have to break that habit to get any kind of depth or consistency to their shading. You, my good sir, have shattered that habit splendidly.
The only way I might improve this is a more interesting background or environment for this crazy dual-jawed horse-dog-thing to live in.

Very cool, but I think the mouth of the one on the left is better. The one on the right seems more "weak" in bite power. I don't now if you understand what I'm trying to say, but they're both very beautiful and remind me of a creature of mine... hi hi hi... good job.
