Description The Southern Festoon (Zerynthia polyxena). The Southern Festoon is a very charming butterfly from Palaearctic ecozone (Europe). The first description was in 1775 by Denis & Schiffermüller. With a wingspan of 4.5 – 5.5 cm the Southern Festoon is a small member of the family PAPILIONIDAE

Vďaka, no nie je úplne podla mojich predstáv, dala som sem ešte zo dve, no s tými už spokojná konečne som, ak chceš môžeš ich omrknúť

Ooh pretty! The Southern Festoon I saw at a butterfly sanctuary had a creamy yellow background colour, do the differences indicate gender?

Male butterfly is a little bit smaller than female. There may be some variability from creamy white to yellow but this doesn't affect determination of gender .
