V’s name comes from the fact her mom thought her vitiligo spots on her back looked like wings and wanted to name her Angel, but her dad was like 'Ehhh that sounds kinda lame how about VALKYRIE'.

BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT when she was little she was playing w/some kids in a sprinkler and some kid looked at her back and started egging on the others to tease her about her 'diseased spots' and it got so bad she tried to scratch the discolored parts off, started w/her nails and then stole a sharp something from her dad's toolbox. Thankfully her dad caught her before she could use the screwdriver any more than once, but the damage was done. She still harbors fears about anyone seeing her back and teasing her not only about her skin, but her scars as well.

Johnny, while sharing her body, knew very little about her back. He knew there were scars there, but couldn't figure out why due to how deep V keeps the memories buried. And by the time he realized something was up, they'd become close enough that he wasn't about to rip into her deepest memories to find out. She'd tell him, one day, he's sure of it.
