it's not a water pump, it's a gas meter. it's supposed to out of focus. the point is for you to see the emphasis on the daisies. these daisies grow where man creates industrial objects. thus the importance of the daisies being in focus and the gauges being out. the gauges should not be more important then the daisies, yet in our society they are. this piece speaks volumes, you just have to look at it properly; there are some different aesthetics to critiquing photography than there are to paintings and other fine arts.
