well i mean, what exactly are the similarities between emboar and tepig? or samurott and oshawott?
they're not exactly prone to making similar-looking evolutions. as long as you it's the same animal and you keep the color scheme, it's good to go.
we're no longer in the days of gen 1 where making the pokemon bigger and adding wings/cannons/flowers is enough to constitute an evolution, unfortunately.
