"Yaci-Yaterê, the leaping wind, is the name given by the indigenous tribe Tupi-Guarani to this entity, but the memory they possess of that being is different from what has become popular in the mind of the Brazilian people. To the Tupi tribes, the creature was a boy, with brown skin and red hair. One of the seven children of Kerane and Tau, Yaci-Yaterê was the only one not to have been born a monstrosity. Being the Lord of Siesta, some believed in the tale of which Yaci-Yaterê lured the children during their sleep, telling the lie that they would go play.
