Description

She received the message.  Her knees quivered at the news.

“What happened there?”  She didn’t know.  “Why was she not informed?”

Of a mission that the soldiers received—leading to their downfall?

How many lives were taken?  How many have been hurt?

What kind of operation was this that she hadn’t heard?

Now at the base, she watches as the coffins are brought down.

She angles her fingers to her brow with eyes focused on her comrades.

The families move in closer and break down, mourning by their loved one.

They’ll never see, hear, smell, or feel them again.

Oh, how they've missed them yet they came back breathless.

Her body shakes and trembles.

Her people’s grief and pain overwhelms her.

For now, she’ll stay and stand strong for her people to see.

But when she’s alone, there’ll be tears.

It's quite sad to think that just one mission had sent a lot of Filipinos to a time of tragedy. I hope our kababayans will rest in peace, at gumaling agad ang sugat na naiwan sa kanilang mga pamilya.

By the way, your poetry was cool. Parang naiimagine mo ang sakit na nararamdaman nila.

Very true.  Their wounds will heal but it would most likely leave a scar.

And yes, I can imagine their pain and I can understand it, but only to a certain point because I can't imagine how deep their pain is.
I can see how hurt they are, but I can't really feel what they're going through.
