"The Glidefin Pygmy Whale is a seldom seen creature that roams the darker depths of the daylight oceans. Their skin has unremarkable healing ability in humans, and they can detect a human presence from hundreds of miles away, making it very hard to encounter. They're known to swim towards people who are weak and adrift at sea, and carrying them upon their back towards the closest island or seashore. Some people have claimed to look younger once they come in contact with the whale's skin."Collective Noun: a pod of Pygmy Whales.

Oh my god, this is great.
This thing takes the "dolphins are neat and like helping out sick people" to a whole new level. It's like a super dolphin/doctor/fountain of youth-hybrid, all compressed into the size of a small truck. Though if this is a pygmy whale, I can't wait to see how large other whales get on Alkairos.

I based this creature's story on stories I've heard about dolphins like that. Whales get to grow to behemoth size in Alkairos (it's a big planet), so I can't wait to draw the largest ones
I guess some humans must have done something really nice to these whales for them just to be helping people at sea like that.
