“Hey, Stel?” asked Jade slowly as they stood in front of their house.
“Yes?” said Stella in a confused tone.
“Are you sure mom and dad won’t hurt each other?”
“I don’t know how to answer that, I used to think that they wouldn’t, but they’ve gotten worse…” Stella sighed.
Jade frowned and looked down. In, response, Stella squeezed her hand comfortingly. Riley let go of Stella’s hand and walked to the other side of Stella to hug Jade.
As they ended their hug, an old blue pick-up truck, blaring rock music, parked in front of them. A voice yelled “Get your butts in!” Stella helped the girls get into the fairly large back of the truck, and then hopped into the front passenger seat, and tied her hoodie around her waist.
“S’up” T greeted her friend as she turned the music down.
Stella looked back to check on the girls, and then looked back out the window.
“Hello?! You ignorin me? Earth to Stell!” T yelled while waving her hand in front of Stella’s face, almost smacking her.
“God I can hear you. What?” Stella yelled.
“You didn’t answer me when I said S’up.”
Stella looked at her friend flatly.
Tia rolled her eyes and asked, “Are we picking up Ben? Cause if we are, you are gonna have to sit in his lap or vice versa.”
“He’s meeting us there” replied Stella disappointedly.
T noticed her friend’s tone and smirked. She looked back and asked the girls if they were ready. They nodded. She started the car and they headed to The Funhouse Movie Theater.
As they parked the truck and were about to hop out, a black 2006 mustang parked next to them, and out of it came Ben.
T hopped out first, followed by Stella so she could help the girls out. After the girls had gotten out, they were jumping up and down and laughing their butts off. As Stella walked out from behind the truck, Ben greeted her; he walked next to her and put an arm around her shoulders. T noticed that Stella was lightly blushing, and she smirked.
As they got into the movie theater, they started discussing what movie they were going to watch, they all wanted to watch a horror, but Riley was only 12. They decided to just lie about her age. They also agreed to about who would pay for who, Ben would pay for Stella, Stella would pay for T, and they all would pitch in for the girls. They decided to watch a creepy movie about the apocalypse.
T went to go save some spots, and told Stella that she didn’t want anything. Stella chose a large Dr. Pepper and a bag of licorice, Ben chose a medium Pepsi and a large thing of popcorn, while the girls both chose a small Root beer and a bag of M&m’s. Ben sat against the wall, next to Stella, while the girls sat next between her and T. Stella fell asleep shortly after the previews ended.

She was woken up when she felt her chair move; she opened her eyes in alarm only to realize somehow she was sitting across Ben’s lap, his arms around her shoulders and his chin resting on top of her head. At first she panicked, wondering how she had ended up like this. Ben, sensing that she was awake, lifted his chin and looked at her; he muttered an apology and moved to put her back in her seat, but Stella frowned and said “No. It’s alright; I’m just kinda curious how I got like this…”
“Well, you fell asleep after the previews, and you looked cold, so I had Riley put your jacket on you, but you still looked cold, so I decided to share my body heat,” Ben blushed, “And you looked uncomfortable in that position so I thought you would be comfier this way…”
Stella blushed, “Thanks”, was all she could say. T, who saw the whole thing, made eye contact with Stella and put her thumbs up. Stella flipped her off, and thanks to the bad lighting, no one saw except the two. Stella fell asleep again with a content smile on her face, snuggling closer to Ben’s chest. She was woken up by Ben shaking her shoulder, “Stell, wake up, Stell!”
“Huh, wha?” Stella asked groggily, while noticing she had started drooling on him, “oh I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to-”
“Don’t worry, it’s alright,” He smiled, “just wanted to tell you the movie’s over.”
Stella smiled and squinted as the lights came back on. Jade whined when the lights touched her face, and T hissed and tried to cover her face comically, resulting in the girls doubled over in laughter. Ben, Stella and T chuckled at the sight of the girls mimicking T’s action.
As they walked out of the movie theater and into the chilly parking lot, the girls started running around, reenacting scenes from the movie, Stella told them they could run around, as long as they were careful of cars. Stella, T, and Ben were by the cars talking, T leaning against her truck, Ben sitting in the passenger seat of his car, the door open, and his leg sticking out. Stella sat next to T on the asphalt. They were just chatting, but Stella was bewildered to hear T say, “Hey, Ben, my parents and siblings are out of town, Stell and the girls are spending the night, wanna come too?”
“Sure”
Stella’s jaw dropped. She looked at T, then at Ben.
“But let me take my car home, and then can you guys pick me up?” Ben asked
“Okay, we’ll follow you.” T replied.
“Let’s go!” Stella yelled at the girls.
“Okay!” they jinxed.
They hopped back into their cars and T followed Ben to his house.
After he had parked his car, Ben ran inside to quickly pack a bag, moments later he came out the front door, locked it, and waked up to the truck. Stella got out, and he climbed in, she climbed back in, and blushing, sat in his lap.
The car ride to T’s house was silent and awkward. When T parked the car and unlocked the house, everyone grabbed their bags and walked into the house. T explained that everyone will be sleeping in the living room. Everyone took turns going into the bathroom to get into something comfy. T, Riley, and Jade put on tank tops and sweats. Stella put on Pj pants and a tank top, took off her anklet, and Ben stayed in what he was in, but took his shoes off.
T put on Netflix and said they were going to watch Paranormal Activity 1-4, because it was so close to Halloween and that somebody fell asleep during the last one. She looked at Stella while saying this; in return, Stella stuck her tongue out.
T made a giant bag of popcorn, put it into a bowl, and sat down. Stella lay on the end of one of the three couches; Ben sat on the ground in front of her. Riley and Jade shared a blanket on another couch, while T lay on the third. Every time something popped up during the first movie, the girls squealed and giggled.
By the end of the first movie, Stella got up to make more popcorn for the second. As she plopped down, T started the movie. Ben moved to sit up on the couch, and Stella sat up, once he was settled, she leaned back onto the arm of the couch.
By the third movie, it was Ben’s turn to make the popcorn. He gave the bowl to the girl’s and jumped over back of the couch and landed next to Stella, he put his arm around her shoulder, and she leaned into him, and he could feel her tense up every time something happened, he chuckled at this every few times she did.
By the fourth movie, it was T’s turn to make the popcorn, and Stella and Ben had gotten kicked off their couch by the girls, so they were both sitting on the floor, Stella with her back against the couch, with a pillow in her lap, and Ben laying with his back against the couch, his head on the pillow.
When the movie ended, it was only 10:30p.m. So they decided to watch a Chuckie movie. This time it was Stella’s turn to make popcorn. When she handed the bowl to T she saw that the girls were on their own couch with the blanket up to their noses in case something happened, she didn’t blame them, the movie sounded pretty scary, as she turned to see her couch, she saw that Ben was laying on the couch, patting the space in front of him, she smiled and he smiled back. She fell onto the couch and nestled against him, and he laid his arm under his head, and the other around her waist.
Stella jumped at almost everything in this movie, and that amused Ben. After the movie was over, Stella finally asked, “Why were you laughing and chuckling all throughout the movie?”
“You were scared”
“So?” Stella asked confused.
“I found it quite amusing and cute.” He grinned.
Stella blushed. On their left side T chuckled. Stella glared at her.
T yawned, “Ayah. I think its bed-time, I’m tired as heck. How about you?”
“Me too…” the girls jinxed again.
“Me three” commented Ben.
“Ditto” added Stella.
T turned off the TV, and let the dog Callie inside.
Ben slid off the couch and slept on the floor, T slept on her own couch, as did Stella, and the girls shared a couch; sleeping on either ends.
