Okay, first off, I know it's got muddy icky shadows. Still learning... If you are a skilled digital painter, I'd appreciate some how-tos.Also, I meant to make him look much less like Klaus Von Eberbach but oh well. Ja wohl!

Really great work on this... I love the expression on his face. I can just imagine that he was studying in the library, took a rest on his book, looked up at the sound of someone entering the library (loudly) and saw that it was either James Potter or Sirius Black. Or both... probably both.
Anyway... I always like to try and see the story behind the pic.

I'm more of a traditional artist myself, so any digital art I might do through the pc would be acceptable at best. However I can tell you I love the detail you've captured, the shadows don't seem that muddy to me, but I guess we are our own worst critques and know our art better than anyone else. Anyway I do love this, he seems contemplative here to me, and maybe a touch bored. Knowing how Snape's character is I get the feeling he's pondering on either a spell or a potion, or perhaps he's reflecting on a few things he might find depressing. It leaves a lot to the imagination and the snow on the window sill is a really nice touch. An instant fav for me, and a incredibly well done for you!

I love the detail in the hair and the book has exquisite details. Background at atmosphere are great. Love how it is dark just like Severus.
