Description Just to show that I can (and do) photograph dogs apart from Huskies, here is a portrait of one of my neighbour's bitches.
Tikka is a German Wirehaired Pointer, and has the most beautiful furry face.

I really enjoy photographing these dogs because in the right light they have the most amazing colours in their fur.

WHAT A FACE!!!! I LOVE IT!!!!!

How is this breed's disposition compared to the Siberian Husky? And I'm curious... do they shed much? I know that some short-haired dogs shed more than long haired ones.

In some ways the GWP is very similar to the Siberian - they are boisterous and bouncy and love to destroy things. In other ways they are very different. They can be quite protective of their people, and like to warn of strangers with a bark (although they are always friendly when they actually meet you).

They can be stubborn, but are very trainable in the right hands, so in that way they are quite unlike Siberians. My neighbour's dogs are working gundogs, and are trained to the whistle. They are very obedient, but still have an awful lot of personality.

They don't really shed - the wire coat needs to be hand stripped regularly, which is a job that takes a little learning, but is mostly long and boring. From that point of view they are easy to keep tidy. They seem to shake off mud and water like ducks!

Thank you for the info! I love learning about different breeds.

In addition to my husky, I have an Akita mix. Kuma is SOOO smart, but very dog-aggressive - I don't know if it's the breed, or just his charming personality. ha!
