I just got this darned set, and thought drawing it would be a nice way of "celebrating" the occasion.

I remember this one. He also had a second form of sorts too, which was taller.

I was certainly not expecting to run across this piece of nostalgia. Now I feel dated. I still have this guy on my desk.
Nice work in evoking that animated feel to it.

Aweshome. :3 Nice work drawing all the details but also keeping the shape and position of the character and vehicle true. :3 Lovely shading work.

Your drawings have an amazing level of texture for graphite. I'd never be able to avoid smudging if I tried to draw something like this. Plus you continue to show great skill in conveying action through lines of motion.

Wow, thanks! Have to admit, though: there were a couple of smudges that I had to practice my eraser-skills on.

Oh, my goodness... I had this set as a kid. I get it on New Year's Eve, 1999, right before the changing of the millennium. As a little guy, I thought that was an amazing coincidence.

Ah, thanks for the nostalgia!

Welcome! Always a pleasure to evoke that feeling.

So those guys were like some prototypes of bionicle?

Vrahno In reply to RadutheMC [2013-07-09 10:54:31 +0000 UTC]

Essentially, yes. More precisely, BIONICLE was the result of LEGO refining the concept behind Slizers (after the failure of RoboRiders) and expanding it into a multimedia franchise.

They just didn't sell that well, from what I read.

This was my very first Throwbot/Slizer set. Man, the memories. I had a blast having Millennia and Blaster fight it out for the fate of the planet.

The almighty eBay of course. Been scoring some nifty old sets there lately, though not always for nifty prices.

Looks great! You can tell the individual pieces and everything, but they don't overload the drawing. Nicely done!

Thanks! Tried to keep this one simple because I was using a hard-to-erase pencil.
