Ron Cobb was a great designer, but I don' t recall that he drew a lot of cars ( maybe the De lorean in Back 2 the future) ... but his works for sci-fi film like Alien or Star Wars are amazing!

Wasn't he also responsible for designing the german flying wing in ROTLA and the APC in Aliens?

yes, he has designed the apc in Alien and space ships .
