At Apple Blossom TimeThe sunshine cast a soft light
through the branches of the trees
In the orchard by the farmyard
where busy worked the bees
T’was there we played in childhood
free from all the worlds care
In a landscape full of colour
with apple blossom everywhere
Like the birds that fly in freedom
Across the sunlit sky
Here we were given liberty
Our wild games to enjoy
Petals fell like snowdrops
As through branches high we’d climb
In our lovely Orchard playground
At apple blossom time
A flower filled land of wonder
Where sweet scent filled the air
With wild creatures of the countryside
The pleasant place we’d share
Boys and girls together
Trying to see who would highest climb
As we played our games of childhood
At apple blossom time
But how those friends got scattered
Across the world far and wide
Some to have gone to their final res
On both sides of the Atlantic tide
Like the petals from the branches
They fell, while in their prime
Lost pals who’d played together
