Description
The three historic JU-52 JU-AIR will undergo a complete overhaul. All systems and parts of the aircraft are checked and revised in such a way that they can be certified as safe for a certain, re-operating time.
The aircraft are then considered technically as good as new.
Numerous load-bearing parts on the wings, fuselage, chassis, tail units and control surfaces as well as parts of the engines and fuel systems are replaced with new parts as part of the overhaul. Since new parts for the historic JU-52 are no longer available, they must be newly manufactured by certified suppliers in complex individual production. As a result, the total revision of an aircraft is expected to take more than 20 months. The JU -52 of JU-AIR will therefore be able to withdraw again in the spring of 2021.

It is, indeed! Ithad been built in 1938 and until last year it had been flying! The company owning three of them lost the license for commercial flights and now they are restoring these beauties...

Vielen Dank! Die Fa. Juair hatte im letzten Jahr einen Absturz mit einigen Toten in der Schweiz, kamen aber trotzdem zu unserem Flugtag. Neulich haben sie dann die Lizenz für kommerzielle Flüge verloren. Nun überholen sie die drei verbliebenen Maschinen und wollen 2021 wieder an den Start... Es war immer ein Erlebnis, diese Schönheiten zu erleben 😁

Yes I can just see little Herve villechaize as tattoo running down the dock as the plane comes flying in the sea plane. That sounds like it's going to be a beautiful job restoring that plane custom fabricating parts will probably require tool & die machine shops working on spec literally rebuilding key parts
