Description I haven't been that big of a fan of the History Channel's "The Bible" miniseries (probably just because they didn't portray things the way I had always envisioned them), but I absolutely LOVE Diogo Morgado as Jesus! HE'S SO HANDSOME. O.O Anyway, this started out as just a quick sketch, but then I couldn't stop! I changed a few things to make Him look more like what I imagine He looked like.
Whooo!!! I finally drew Jesus successfully! Even more amazing, I finally drew a GUY successfully! 'o'/

Title taken from "When Love Sees You", Jesus' song from The Story CD, as sung by Mac Powell. I cry every time I hear it. :3

www.youtube.com/watch?v=F4DK7a…

Lyrics:

Blessed are you as you weep on your knees with perfume and tears washing over My feet.
Blessed are you, beggar, hopeless and blind, calling for mercy when I'm passing by.
Blessed are you, shaking your head at two tiny fish and some bread.
Blessed are you as you tremble and wait for the first stone thrown at your sinful disgrace.

Tell Me your story, show Me your wounds and I'll show you what Love sees when Love looks at you.
Hand Me the pieces, broken and bruised, and I'll show you what Love sees when Love sees you.

Blessed are you walking on waves to find yourself sinking when you look away.
Blessed are you leper, standing alone: the fear on their faces is all that you've known.
Blessed are you, lonely widow, who gave your last shiny coin to Yahweh.
Blessed are you with your silver and lies, kissing the One Who's saving your life.

Tell Me your story, show Me your wounds, and I'll show you what Love sees when Love looks at you.
Hand Me the pieces, broken and bruised, and I'll show you what Love sees when Love sees you.

I see what I made in your mother's womb, and I see the day I fell in love with you;
I see your tomorrows: nothing left to chance; I see My Father's fingerprints;
I see your story, I see My Name written on every beautiful page;
You see the struggle, you see the shame: I see the reason I came.

I came for your story, I came for your wounds, to show you what Love sees when I see you.

Have a happy Resurrection Day!

This drawing is very beautiful!! I watched the Bible and I also love this Jesus because he has always a wonderful smile on his face,
not a face without expression, and that's how I imagine Jesus, with a smile, and you were able to represent him very well

Oh, wow, that just hit me because of the way you phrased it -- "smiling while carrying the Cross." Wow! I never thought of it that way, but that just made me fall in love with Jesus all over again!
I must confess, I didn't cry when He was on the Cross in the Bible miniseries (I think I kept getting distracted by the constant shots back to Roma Downey), but I definitely did cry when I saw it in theatres as Son of God.
Ah, I'm such a Young American, needing everything to be on the big screen before I can appreciate it... :S

I have never cried for a movie about Jesus, but I did on this
Yes, on the big screen is all more exciting, pity it doesn't come out in theaters in Italy

Thank you very much! I think that's why I loved Diogo Morgado as Jesus, as well, because he was always smiling, and he just perfectly portrayed the love Jesus had for us!

Whoa! O.O Excellent work!!

Ah, I watched The Bible, I kinda like it. The reason that I kept watching was Diogo Morgado who did amazingly well to play the role of Jesus. Oh my gosh I cried A LOT when I watched the crucifixion and the ending. D:

Thank you!

A bunch of my guy friends who are really into apologetics and I watched it. We were a little disappointed, because we felt like it wasn't entirely accurate, but apparently a lot of people watched it, and if it got the Good News out, that's what matters! (Not that Biblical accuracy doesn't matter... nevermind...)

But heheheh, yeah, Diogo Morgado was one of the main reasons I liked it! :3

The Crucifixion was pretty heartrending, but it didn't move me as much as I thought it would. I think from growing up with the story I just imagined it much more... dramatic. I have a pretty over active imagination.

You're welcome! ^^

Hmm this series were kinda interesting. When I first saw them, I was little confused. It was so obvious that I can tell the differences between this series and the Bible. They left some important pieces out. >_>  Every scene I watched was little over dramatic. I'm just saying

Despite that, I enjoyed watching them.

Heehee when I first saw Diogo Morgado, I was like "Whoa! He's veeeeery handsome, indeed." O.O

 haha

Yeah, heartrending. ;_; hmm...It must be me. Because every time I watch the Crucifixion, I cry unstoppable. It happens to me every time I watch different movie about Jesus. >3>

Ugh, I know! I realize they had a time limit, but the things they left out kind of made me mad! I wish they had actually dedicated an episode to Creation/The Fall, and Noah, instead of just having Noah tell his children the story himself (I really didnt understand WHY he did, either). And the Burning Bush thing really bothered me, too -- God didnt say "I AM that I AM". And yeah, the episodes were pretty dramatic. Lol those ninja angels in Sodom made me chuckle, though!

One thing I DID like, however, were Jesus' disguised appearances in the OT episodes, i.e. with the angels who came to Abraham.

Lol, when I first saw the commercials I didnt really want to watch it because i was afraid the Bible would get twisted and make me sad -- and then I saw Diogo Morgado. And thought why not give it a try... :3

*sigh* No, I doubt its you; its most likely me. I wonder if my cold, shrivelled little black heart has become accustomed to the story, takes it for granted, and needs a big, dramatic show to remind it of the gravity of His love?

I did cry, though! My hearts not THAT black! I just didnt cry as much as usual. I think Roma Downy as Mary kind of annoyed me and got in the way...

(sorry for late reply! >_<)

Yeah! Exactly! O.O I never disagree with you. When I saw the Burning Bush, I noticed Moses never took his sandals off when he gets little closer to Him. Oh yeah those ninja angels! I was like "What the heck?" when I saw them. XD Well they ARE God's warriors and guardians.

Oh! When the angels first appeared, I thought they were demons or something because, to me, they look little scary in hooded cloaks.

I kept watching these episodes because I was sooo looking forward to see Jesus. So I think Diogo Morgado did excellent work playing as Jesus.

Oh! I know your heart is not black.

I see people cry when they watch the Crucifixion scene. My family watch it and cry too but I cry more than my family. We knew what happened to Jesus because we read the Bible and watch different biblical movies in many years, of course. Whenever I watch the movie about Jesus with my family, I avoid seeing the Crucifixion scene. I love Jesus with all of my heart but I hate seeing the scene, dramatic or not dramatic, because it always breaks my heart. >_< My folks knew that I'm the most emotional person of the family. I always knew that it is okay to cry. So I gave up and watched the Crucifixion scene of The Bible. And yep I cried, A LOT. >3>

Yeah...I guess you're right about Roma Downy. >_>

(Pssshhh!! Girl, it's fine!)

Really?? Hm, I'm not so sure I noticed he didnt take off his shoes... but now that you mention it I'm really annoyed... >: (
Hahahaha!! Ninja angels make me chuckle... Lol, yeah, I guess their ninjaness could be justified with that. And I know, they kinda creeped me out at first, too!

Me, too! And yes, he did a wonderful job as Jesus! :3

Oh my word awwwwww, that is so precious that you always cry over the Crucifixion! Seriously, never lose that feeing. I think many Christians, especially in America, have become rather desensitized to the Cross, and what it really means, myself included. I think most of us see a cross and think "Yep, Jesus died and took away my sins and came back to life so I can live in heaven for eternity weeeeeeee!!", instead of thinking, "Jesus was brutally tortured and murdered because I KILLED HIM; He squeezed Himself into a constricting human body just so it could be broken; He took every bad thing I have ever done and ever will do and had to make God turn His back on His own Son because *I* am so filthy wretched"... We see the beauty of His work, but not what it cost Him. We fail to recognize what we put Him through.

Wow. You really have got me convicting myself! (And you've got me monologuing!) Thank you, a lot!

You know what mental image always gives me chills and makes me cry? Imagining the Veil of the Temple splitting in two from top to bottom. Just... the idea that in one split second the wall between God and Man was broken. Just like that, God could open the gates and allow His children to come home. Reconciliation in the blink of an eye. 0_0

Sorry. Excuse my rambles!

Yeah.  He didn’t take his shoes off. It is very important thing  to do when you walk on the Holy ground. So disappointed.

Hahaha I kept wondering “is that how Asians got the moves from those ninja angels?” Heehee.

Hmm yes everyone looks creepy in a cloak’s hood. >_>

Indeed!

Yeah I’m a crybaby but don’t care. Haha.

Exactly! That’s how I feel  whenever I watch the Crucifixion scene! It always tears my heart out when I watch Jesus being mocked, tortured, and murdered by soldiers. I always feel guilty that Jesus died as a sacrifice for us and our sins. I know He did not deserve this kind of agony.  D:

Aw you’re welcome ^^

Oooh! I absolutely agree with you about the Veil of the Temple.  O.O I mean, just wow.

Oh! It’s okay! ^^ I always like people discussing their thoughts and emotions.

Yeah, I'm pretty firm in my standards and morals. It can be hard at times, but I've seen first hand how stickin' with God pays out in the long run.

And thank you! I was hoping to convey that, but I was having trouble with His eyes at first. Then He just kind of... did it Himself. So I'm glad you like it!

well i definitely agree with that.........well, i'm the same way (but i thought i was the only one).
i just thought it was a little harsh that people told you "happy Easter", and you came back with a "No, it's called Resurrection Day" attitude. :-P
no, you're cool, it's all good.
i hope you have an amazing summer.

Oh, that's just something my church does, saying Resurrection Sunday, more to remind ourselves of what we celebrate, not to put others down. I guess it's just kind of a habit now! I wasn't trying to be snarky. And that girl was one of my best friends, so she's chill with it. But thanks for drawing my attention to it!
And you have a good summer, too!
