When ya think video game mascots I know most go with Sonic and Mario and what-not. While I obviously like them, one set of characters I will forever have a good time with is the Konami classics, Mystical Ninja (or Ganbare Goemon in Japan). I remember spending so many days renting and playing the first one for the 64 back when I was little...partly cause I didn't know what a memory card was so I thought you had to beat it in one sitting which was next-to-impossible for me to do back then. I eventually did decide one day that I would not stop playing until I saw the end and while I did find out what a Memory Card was and that you could save your progress in the game afterwards, I'll never forget that day. Such a magical experience playing through all that craziness at once.

One track I always loved was the one that played at Mt. Fear. It's one of my first memories of a video game having a somewhat ambient, yet lovely, track (www.youtube.com/watch?v=UlJ_Ay… ) as snow falls across the mountain you're climbing, and it remains one of my favorite tracks ever. I can sit there drawing for hours listening to it.

Long live the Sushi Submarine.
